Default Which would you rather hear about?

I thought of this and had to think on which way I would go. It's either something good or something bad. You can only pick one.

What news would you rather hear about?

Sorry I don't have any news. I was only putting the question into a poll.

With all the possibilities, like Universal going neutral or Microsoft backing Blu-Ray, Warner or Paramount going exclusive would not compare to Toshiba withdrawing out of this war and actually admitting defeat. That is the only real way this war can actually stop quickly. They are the only manufacturer of the HDDVD technology. Warner or Paramount going exclusive to Blu would not be enough to convince universal to go neutral. Microsoft is just a whining child, begging everyone to wait for their downloads. And in this whole thing, they really have nothing to loose than they already have lost with their xbox 360 and their 30% failure rate. (Im not saying it's a bad machine, i own one and it's really great) Their downloading service is no match to the physical media at this moment. The future is downloading services but the hard drive technology and internet technology just isn't advanced enough yet and i would hate to accetentally buy a faulty hard drive and lose all of my films i bought and i would like to load my friends my film or bring it over to watch and have a beer. Microsoft is just wasting their money. The discs are waterproof for God's sake!!! And the disc technology can withstand magnets or other signals that could damage hard drives. As far as i see this, and i know many of you are with me with this point of view, that there is WAY more greed on the HDDVD side of this war. One: Microsoft's greed for digital downloads and Two: Toshiba's patent on the current OLD DVD technology that they are still using for HDDVD. Again, Microsoft is not in this for any of this technology, it's too obvious that they are just backing the weaker side just to throw things off. I used to not like Sony for alot of the same reasons that i dislike Micro$soft, but within the last 5 years, i have to say, that i have seen a really great turn around with that company and they are really trying to redeem themselves with some of their bad reputations like some bad quality products(video cameras, TVs) they put out a few years back(not everything was bad i know). They grew too big for a while and they see that now. I have to say I'm REALLY impressed by the PS3 technology as an all-in-one device. Same with Disney, ever since they got rid of Eisner, that company has been turning around ever since. Ok now i'm rambling. sorry about that. But yes, Toshiba backing out is the only REAL way this can end right now. The other reasons are also really great stepping stones for the inevitable winner.......Blu-Ray.

While I agree it is a tough quesiton I have to lean on the side of Good News for Blu-ray. My reasoning is simply this: I am 100% confident Blu-ray is the eventual winner of this format war. That being said i don't care at all about HDUD. Being confident that they will win this war I am now looking toward the future when Blu-ray will finally surpass DVD's. So while Good News for Blu and Bad News for HDUD both carry about the same weight in Blu-ray winning this format war, good news for Blu gets it one step closer to competing with DVD and thus one step close to becoming the market standard that it one day will become.

Although I indulge in the occasional gloat, in general I prefer not to delight in the suffering of others. My boyfriend made a great analogy recently about HD DVD fanboys - those that are not direct M$/Toshiba/Universal shills are like wayward young ladies who had their virginity taken by a lousy deadbeat boyfriend. And no matter how many of her friends tell her that the guy's a lowlife, she swears by him and she is positive he loves her - because she has invested so much in their relationship.

In short, the abused girlfriend - i.e. HD DVD consumers - are in a deep state of denial, suffering from an unfortunate disease called Iboughtcrapitis. They have taken the risk of all early adopters, and they picked the wrong product. And for many, they will swear by HD DUD until the bitter end.

This is why I enjoy positive Blu news far more than slams against HD DVD - it's like seeing a beaten, bloody guy get dragged through the dirt and spat on. e_e

I like to hear negative stuff about HD DUD. With every stone throw at the glass house, its that much sooner Blu-Ray can save millions of americans from burning their money on a "wannabe HD format".
