Question Lou Reed's Song, "Perfect Day" In AT&T's Olympic Commercial. Huh?

I always took the song as Reed having a completely sarcastic tone in his voice, so no idea why AT&T would use this in a 'positive' commercial. Your thoughts?

Because people don't read anything into it...... most people listening to that song don't know who Lou Reed is, let-alone what the song was about.

(Beta Man loves him some Lou Reed.... the Velvet Underground disc of all Lou Reed songs is a must own too)

I think irony may be lost on advertisers. I've seen a song about heroin abuse used to sell boat cruises and a Mercedes Benz commercal that uses a song that couldn't be any farther from the message they're trying to send.

Good call. I was also wondering about why anyone would choose a Lou Reed song to advertise/promote/celebrate anything, considering the source. I do like that song, but I wouldn't associate it with the Olympics in any way.
