Hey guys,
just wanted to know your input regarding this HYPOTHETICAL situation. Since Universal decided to continue this whole ridiculous, no point, format war. basically, giving HDDVD a chance to come back against BD (a situation where could be easily compared to someone who completely abused their credit and just tried to get another credit card.) how much of a chance Universal has against BD. personally, Universal so far haven't released their best, classic, and most definitely blockbuster releases like BACK TO THE FUTURE, and JURASSIC PARK for example. why are they holding back? do you think they had an idea that BD will win the format war, and go ahead and release the films on BD, or they are holding for the 4th Q as a backup plan? this is nothing but a discusstion of a strategy trying to figure out what Uni is trying to pull off. my fellow blurayers, this is nothing but a study of their strategy. To know your enemy's weakness, is to know your enemy's strength. let's have a positive, and productive discussion. ![]() |

Well they claimed to be releasing Spielberg movies, and later had to retract their statement and make an apology to him. A lot of the big Universal titles are his films. Jurassic Park, ET, Jaws, Back To The Future-even though he was an executive producer, 1941. Those I feel are the big draw Universal has, and without his say so they can't be released. What else is there? Bruce and Evan Almighty, Knocked Up, Meet the Fockers. It looks like they don't have any major releases this Christmas season. We'll be getting the Warner titles like the Matrix Trilogy, and Batman Begins that were HD exclusive, not to mention the Starz titles, Close Encounters, and the Spiderman Trilogy, these being BD exclusive. Unless they pull a magic rabbit out of their collective asses, I doubt they will have anything major coming out to compete with BD.

Now, we see "coming soon" all the time. Like Batman for BD has been "coming soon" since the beginning. No retraction and apology there. So, someone in Spielberg's office must have flipped out. |

I would love to have Spielberg films on HD, I think Back to the Future would look amazing in hi def, but I'll wait till Universal come to their sense and cave
![]() For the rest of their titles... so far the only thing I can think of (and Im still boycotting) is the Bourne Trilogy this xmas. It will the the Blu-ray killer from the HD DVD camp lol. But other than that, there hasnt been a movie that I REALLY want to have out. |
