i won't wait for a movie usually. amazon's prices lately have been really good, haven't spent more than $20 on a new release in quite some time.
right now i'm having trouble waiting on zombieland....don't want to spend $24 on it but may end up picking it up 2morrow. ![]() |

I waited until last Black Friday to really get serious with Blu-ray. Before November I had 26 Blu-rays, now I have 60 and still climbing!

I'll wait. Some titles I will not pay full price for. Back on Black Friday last year, X-Men Origins: Wolverine was $30. On Black Friday, it was $10. You bet your a** I bought it for $10. There's a lot of movies I want to buy, but at the prices they are at now, I refuse. The most I've spent on a Blu-ray is $26.

I'm the same way. Some movies, particularly ones I loved in theaters or ones I meant to see but didn't make it I will try to find the best price release day to prevent waiting. This is also true for older movies that are favorites. For example, bought Boogie Nights as Best Buy exclusive though it meant overpaying and got Magnolia on release day, though I can easily see these dropping to about $12.99 very shortly. Though I am obviously concerned with getting the best deals, I don't like to always let that interfere with indulging my love for collecting movies.

I usually don't wait for new releases I really want. New movies I have some interest in getting I'll wait a while to see what the price does. I usually won't buy a catalog movie until the price is right. Most of the catalog releases I buy are just replacing my DVD copy anyhow, so I can wait.

I'll sit tight. After picking up Terminator Salvation for $15.99, and District 9 for $17.99, both at Best Buy during their release weeks, seeing 9 for $24.99 just after Christmas left me with a sour taste. Nowhere, even on line, was it going for less.
Now Hurt Locker is the same price, everywhere. The studios have their marketing plans; I have my wallet, and when the two can agree, I get the movie. Otherwise, I'll wait - I don't do impulse buys for the most part, so it's easy to rewatch my library, instead of overpaying for the flavor of the week. Or double-dipping my DVD's, unless it's one of the $6.99 giveaways that are becoming more prevalent. Sit them out. Prices will come down. The studios that lower prices first will be the ones increasing their revenue stream first, and at around $20 a Blu, they're making a good profit. |
