Balancing the Bluray forum and your relationship

I believe Macruz tried to call my bluff on this one, but I know you guys will have some excellent insight.

How do you guys balance the love of blurays, with your love of your significant other?

Has anyone noticed their love for blus interferring with their love life? If so, what did you do to fix it?

This is a very serious topic you are addressing here LeAnn . My wife did not like the fact that when we settle down together at night to watch TV or whatever, I would sometimes bring out the laptop and go to this site. So I quit, and now everything is good. As far as buying blus goes, she is actually proud of how I hold off on new titles and wait for prices to drop. So I don't have it that bad.

My wife reminds me every now and then that I spend way too much time on the forum which usually means that its time to start cutting back the time that I spend here...she doesn't mind me buying blu's so to speak so in that department I am pretty good..

I think with any hobbies that you may have has to be balance, time wise with your other partner or else your hobbies will have a conflict of interest with your partner and thats when the trouble really starts

Indeed, I can understand how she felt. There are times of course when laptops and smart phones are extremely convenient... but then again there are times when they should be put away.

Did you find it hard to limit the time you spent on the forum etc or did you just have to quit cold turkey?

It did somewhat interfere with my gf relationship at some point (the forum)

I just simply cut down on my time here... easy..
But there's still the problem of actually watching movies, I'm a total nut and I could easily watch three episodes of Lost or watch two movies every day, but she gets easily tired of it and cannot understand my other "love" so much as I...

So we just talked about it and meet half way...
You just have to know how to communicate each other, easier than it sounds really and meet halfway...

Cutting down on the time that you spend on the forum isn't hard now, when the war was going on it was difficult...but limiting your time that you spend on here now..is easy...

Look at it this way, if you joined the forum last year and you already made it to Guru status...then you are spending way too much time on here, for a single guys thats fine and dandy but for a person in a relationship or has kids then thats a problem

My wife is reasonable. If she is watching a show I absolutely don't care for, like Grey's Anatomy she does not mind if I log on for awhile. Once the show is over though, I get off the site.

She's at work, and I'm at work.

We communicate via email, or text messages during our work hours.

Yes I spend too much time here mainly because I'm at work.

Which naturally I have no issues with.. it is just when we are on the phone and i hear scroll...scroll...scroll... i have no doubts about why it is that I get these one word answers to my questions and long periods of silence.

Never had this issue... my wife does like to poke fun though, when I tell her about a movie coming out to blu or a rumour of a future theatrical release she likes to jab with "oh ya, did your blu ray buddies tell ya that"... If there was something that would put a stain on our relationship (other than money of course) it would probably come down to the time I spend on the PS3, which I try to limit to when she is working.... most the time.
