Default Onkyo 520 and eD A2-300?

I kind of asked this is a previous thread, although it wasn't addressed all that specifically, so I wanted to through it out there one more time. I'm patiently waiting for my eD to be built. Meanwhile I'm wondering if I should bother trying to use both subs.

My other sub, is an Onkyo 520. I guess it's part of a HTIB, but I never really thought it was THAT bad, sorry I don't know a lot of the specs. The room is kind of big with a lofted ceiling.
Would setting them both up compromise my overall bass quality? Half good, half bad? Or, would it be better to keep the older one?

I used to run dual Onkyo 550's in my bedroom. I was a bit apprehensive about not using the Onkyo's again at first. Once I disconnected them, I tried the A2-300 alone and never turned back. My guess is you'll feel the same.

Thanks.

Anyone else care to chime in? Is it worth it to keep the Onkyo hooked up?

If you want to keep the Onkyo, there are a few things you can do to make it sound significantly better, for cheap. First, build a riser for it. Second, stuff the sub with Poly-fill. Last, upgrade the driver in it. The amp is good enough for most 10" subwoofer drivers. I also found that stuffing a hand towel into the port makes the subwoofer sound much better, since you are effectively turning the subwoofer into a sealed subwoofer. If you make all of those modifications, then I would recommend you using the Onkyo at a low level near your seating location so it can play the higher bass frequencies.

Not to sound lazy, buy if it's going to take all that I'll probably just skip it and go with the single. Thanks for you input.

It's not an easy task to make the two work together well. They're two completely different beasts.
