Default Monk reunion movie ordered at Peacock

https://deadline.com/2023/03/peacock...st-1235300773/

Quote:

A Monk follow-up movie will be coming to Peacock. The NBCUniversal streamer has ordered Mr. Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie, starring Tony Shalhoub in a reprisal of his titular role from the USA series, along with original series cast members Ted Levine (On Becoming a God in Central Florida), Traylor Howard (Boston Common), Jason Gray-Stanford (Percy Jackson and The Olympians), Melora Hardin (The Office) and Hector Elizondo (Pretty Woman). The project hails from the original series creative team including creator, executive producer and writer Andy Breckman, executive producer David Hoberman, and executive producer/director Randy Zisk.

In the follow-up movie, Monk, a brilliant San Francisco-based detective with obsessive-compulsive disorder, returns to solve one last, very personal case involving his beloved stepdaughter Molly, a journalist preparing for her wedding.

I was just randomly wondering whatever happened to Traylor Howard.
Also I don't think I ever knew Melora Hardin was in Monk (I only ever watched sporadically)

Finally...I've been wanting a movie version of Monk since the series ended. Took long enough, but glad the core cast will return.

Super excited for this! But I hope it is good, reunions after this long a period a time can sometimes be forced and awkward. Considering the sensitive subject matter of the show, the writers and cast always did an excellent job riding that fine line of making it funny rather than offensive and mean-spirited. Hope that approach continues

I remember reading a long time ago about the possibly of teaming Monk with the guys from Psych in a TV movie. With the slight mention at the end of Psych, I thought it could happen. I don't think it actually will, but that would be one sweet crossover! Monk and Shawn in the same room. I'd pay good money to see that!

My favorite show of this genre. My nephew is in theater and just auditioned for/with Tony Shaloub for a play that's still in development.

I would love to see another case. My understanding is Traylor Howard cut back on acting to devote more time to her family. If memory serves, she got pregnant from her third husband while she was still married to her second husband. I think he wants to keep a close eye on her. Hopefully they have a small part for Emmy Clarke Traylor's daughter in the series. Sarah Silverman was probably one of the funniest characters for Monk to work with,

I always wondered what happened to Traylor so looked up her wiki, had no idea she is 57 years old, crazy.

Great reunion movie! A lot have commented that they thought the mystery itself was weak, and while I won’t disagree, many of the episodes were like that as well. A cheesy villain who is revealed early on with the resolution being a “howdunit” rather than a “whodunit”. And this show was more about the character moments anyway, and the movie nailed that! Tony Shalhoub doesn’t look 70 and slipped right back into this character like it was nothing. The other characters were great to see again as well!

I really enjoyed that. I’m glad we got to see what happened with Monk during
[Show spoiler]Covid which was something I thought of during the lockdowns. I wanted to see that and we got that here.

Monk’s storyline was so sad. The final scene made me tear up. I hope they do more movies.

PS I loved
[Show spoiler]seeing Sharona again. I always liked her more than Natalie.
Also everyone looked older due to it being 14(!) years since the show ended but they still look good though.
