My sub jumps from sounding like a little buzz to major bass. Didn't like this Polk sub from the start thinking about replacing this real soon. I have a psw505 and would like to know if there is one thats a lot better and under 500.

It doesn't sound like what your describing is a good thing. I have an eD A2-300 as do many people on this site and I can say that they are probably one of the best below $500 you can get.
You can also look at the AV123 MFW-15, I think it is $499 And Hsu VTF-2 MK3 is on sale for an excellent price and would be an awesome sub. These 3 would be the subs to look at |

I have the Hsu callas mentions. I love it. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the 3 but the AV123 would be my last choice. I have a set of Rockets from AV123 and while the speakers are really nice, I have ahd some minor issues with customer service as well as many of the clips on the grills have broken off. Minor quibbles but enough to make me recommend other companies.

I have an MFW-15 and it is a truly amazing subwoofer, especially for the price. However, things are apparently not well with the company as the owner has just been arrested for some serious fraud schemes. I don't think I would buy anything from them for the time being.
Mark L. Schifter arrested for fraud IMO the eD or the HSU would be the way to go. Last edited by Steve; 02-28-2010 at 03:42 PM. |

This is a question where no answer would really do you any good. Each sub should be calibrated in the room it's being used in. My sub (MFW-15) is only turned up about 25% of the way in my living room and set at something like -5 in my receiver and I'm still calibrated at 75 dB. However, move it into your room and it may have to be turned way up or way down to get the same calibration results.

This could have to do with the source material,i'm not real sure exactly what your describing,i don't really have that issue with my 505.But good luck if you go with another sub.
