Default Escaflowne TV to get HD remaster (for DVD?!)

I just noticed on CDJapan that Escaflowne TV is getting a HD remaster in November.... on dvd
Why not release it on an HD format? Any insights into what's up J-side would be greatly appreciated.

Garrrr.

Because it wouldn't sell enough to be worth it at this point. You're probably talking a $600 box set in HD format

Plus they hope the suckers will buy this, then buy it again

Escaflowne was shot on 16mm, the increase in resolution isn't going to be THAT great, certainly not enough to justify imports at those prices.

Actually, it's much cheaper this time around. Only 35,700 yen (~ USD$302) and via Amazon Jp with their discount comes to 26,775 yen which is roughly USD$227.00 for a 9 disc DVD boxset.

That's more than 50% off from the original separate DVD release in Japan, and still cheaper than the limited edition boxset that came after them.

I still wouldn't bother with it since it's just DVD, but if they release it on blu-ray, I'll so rebuy the whole series again.
