Default Bluray Scratches or blemishes on disc

Hello everyone!

I wanted to ask everyone a question. I've been collecting Blurays for about 4 years now and have noticed something strange. Up front I'll tell you I have ocd when it comes to my discs. I do not keep them if they have a scratch, or what I would describe as a blemish ( It is a little circle that is about the size of a pinhead) that is on the disc, I try to wipe it off but it will not come off. Sometimes when i am checking out a disc A little piece of dust will land on it and I can wipe that off with a Microfiber cloth. But these blemishes stay there. Anyone else have this problem?

sometimes I check my Bluray discs for ocd reasons( mainly to see if they have any of the film from Bluray cases from the degassing on them) and I have noticed scratches or these Blemishes on the disc. And I know they were definitely not there when i put the disc away and I am very careful discs.

Does anyone else have this problem? Do the blemishes affect playback at all?
Am I doing something wrong?
Please tell me your thoughts and opinions.

Thanks,
Peter

Wonder if people on these forums actually know what OCD really is? 99% of people who say they have it, don't.

Personally, I don't worry about blemishes, or scratches. I don't inspect any of my discs unless a widespread problem is reported (e.g Criterion's failing discs), or the disc arrived loose in the case. I've never encountered any playback issues with any BD.

Has the imperfection always been there? It could be a number of things but we can only speculate without a picture of the blemish.

I used to be the same way but even took it as far as the packaging needed to be flawless and it really became ridiculous and I have lightened up about these things. Nothing is perfect and Blu ray discs are NOT going to be perfect either. A very small scuff or hairline scratch is not going to effect playback so I let it slide. As far as the tiny pin dot you are talking about its a flaw within the disc itself when being manufactured and as far as I have seen it doesnt effect playback either. Best of luck to you on your OCD.

One of the discs in my Spartacus box set got a few scratches on it because of the packaging. Doesn't affect the playback, but doesn't make it any less annoying.

I have OCD too, so I know the feeling. Though with me, it's all about organization than it is a few scratches.

I have CD's that are near 20 years old that have scratches and still play perfect, same with ten year old DVDs. I read somewhere blu-rays have a coating that is stronger than DVD so I wouldn't be worried.

Depending on the Blu-ray packaging, yes.....you can get scratches.
