So I have a MacBook Pro with Safari browser and I want to use RSS feed in my browser without having to go to a secondary app or site like google.
On apple's site it says that Safari has RSS built in, but when I click RSS I get a feed, but nothing that says subscribe or anything. How do I subscribe to sites, I don't want to just go to them then look at them in RSS format. I know this is a noob question, but i've all but ignored RSS up until today. |

Create some sort of folder in your Bookmark menu (for ease of remembrance, name it something like RSS). Then go to whatever site you are hoping to set up an RSS feed for, and click the RSS button on the URL bar (it shows up when it detects a site that uses RSS). Now the RSS screen thing should slide in from the top, and along the right side of the screen, there'll be a gray column, and at the bottom is a link that says "Add Bookmark". Click that, and add the bookmark to the folder you created earlier (the one named "RSS" or whatever). Do this for however many sites you feel like adding. Now go into the Preferences, and click the RSS tab. Make sure the box is checked off fir either Bookmarks bar or Bookmarks menu, depending on where you created the folder. Customize the rest of the settings to your liking. The last thing is to make sure your browser window is set to include the Bookmarks Bar. Just go under View, and it will be the top option in the menu. If set up properly, you should see the name of your folder somewhere underneath the URL bar, with the number of new articles within a set of parenthesis. Right click that, and hit "View all RSS articles", and it should load them all for you. It's kind of a convoluted process, which is why I just use an app on my phone to skim RSS feeds. |
