Default Digital Copy issues with Green Lantern and Horrible Bosses....

Just wondering if anyone else is having an issue with the digital copy for "GL" and "HB"... I bought both and both have authorization codes. However, the DVD itself doesn't automatically prompt the digital download via iTunes as per usual. And when attempting to force the redemption by entering it into iTunes it requires the DVD to register. When inserting the DVD, it automatically plays the movie. Anyone else experiencing this? I am in Canada, so it may be a distribution issue...

Actually, starting with both Green Lantern and Horrible Bosses, Warner is only supporting the Ultraviolet digital copy. There are no iTunes or Windows Media options anymore and the DVD disc is no longer a DVD-ROM. You get the Blu-ray(s), a DVD-Video of the film, and a "streaming" Ultraviolet copy.

Ultraviolet requires the Flixster app (which can be downloaded via iTunes' App Store) on your iOS device to use it. Ultraviolet does offer the option of a downloabable digital copy but neither of these titles have that option.

So in other words, it's complete and total crap.

In other words, Apple declined to support UV. They along with Disney are about the only 2 companies who don't. EVERYONE else is on board.

It works well. I created my UV acct yesterday and easily added Green Lantern's UV digital copy. I downloaded it to my laptop, and I now have the option of copying that digital copy and burning to a disc, or download it to another device. I also have the option to stream the digital copy anywhere.

It's a good concept that offers much more flexibility.

The rollout is very slow, but eventually we'll see UV on every title. 1080p is part of the spec, but I don't think we'll see HD digital copies in the near future. Not until they begin selling UV versions as a standalone item.

Not that I would have any real use for the UV digital copy (or any digital copy) I think the concept is a good one. That way someone can upload a DC and be able to get to it from multiple devices. I can't really see why some people are so against it.

It seems there was some issue in Canada with the DC's for both. Check out the FS flyer. They've got a correction notice in there...actually here it is in full:

"Blu-ray Combo Packs - Horrible Bosses and Green Lantern
WebID:M2192588/ M2192657/ M2102606/ M2192608
Due to a manufacturing issue, please note there is a defect on the digital copies included for the Blu-ray combo packs for Horrible Bosses (M2192588) and Green Lantern (M2102606/ M2192657/ M2192608). Please see an associate in-store for full details on how to redeem a replacement digital copy for either movie. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused our valued customers."

The launch is definitely small as there's only 2 titles with UV copies, and only a handful more later this year. But it'll grow.

I do like the fact that once you have your copy stored in the cloud, you can stream it from any other computer.

Hi, could you clarify where you saw this and if fs flyer means future shop? I bought my 3d combo pack yesterday and after checking the dvd/digital copy discovered there is no digital copy file on the disc. I nagivated to warner brothers tech site which was about as usefull as boobs on a nun. So if i have to make a trip back to the store id like to be armed with whatever it is you found.

Thanks in advance
Bob

Yep I meant FutureShop.

Check out the last page on the online flyer. If you can't find it, I'll try to post a screenshot.

They are the only two that came with it at launch, but I just found out that Emerald Knights is available for UV streaming also. It was there when I redeemed my GL code.
One of the first DC's I've ever redeemed and I get two movies for doing so. I can live with that.

ed: watching GL:EK now, and it looks way better on streaming than GL does. Much less artifacting etc. Hmm. I wonder if UV dc's for 3D movies will ever have 3D streams available. I have an Evo, but I'd rethink the possibility of going to an Evo 3D if it would support that. Maybe in a couple years.

Are you watching the Blu-rays at all or care more about this streaming crap?

Looks as though I'll still be selling the Digital Copy.

... hostile much?
Like I said in my post- one of the first digital copies I've ever activated (either the second or the third).
I watch blurays at home. Sometimes, I drive people to doctor's appointments and crap at my job. I do not have my 50" plasma or my projector with me in the work van. I DO have my phone. My phone does do 4G. If I'm going to be sitting there for half an hour, I'll probably read a book on my phone, but I sometimes might choose to stream tv or a movie.

If you bring your home theater setup with you that's ummm... great. I guess. I'll stick with my phone. With it's 2 or 3 digital copies.
Troll.

I gave it a try, but I wonder if they will send these out to a US address or if it must be a Canadian address.

Yep I meant FutureShop.

Just wanted to drop a quick but heartfelt thank you to you for your reply. I found the online flyer and the announcement of the problem on the last page as per your instruction. Interesting that neither the store manager or the employee he was training as they cashed me out mentioned the issue or the flyer.

best wishes
Bob
