Default Do Optical Drives Play Any DVD/BD Region Format?

Hi all, I just want to know that because I want to buy a BD Region 1 from amazon.com and I'm not sure if my LG drive will be able to play it. I live in Region 2. Or this region limitations are only present on hardware players and not in optical drives/software players? I use Arcsoft Total Media Theatre 3.
Thanks.

They are on both. The drive has a region setting and so does the software. Usually they are only changeable up to 5 times. Your best option is to have one drive set as Region A and one set to Region B or C. Whichever you prefer.

You CANNOT set your software to one region, while your drive is another. Won't work. They both have to match.

Thanks for your answer. It's true that Arcsoft settings are set to Region 2, but my BD Optical Drive is not set to any region. Like in this picture: Does that mean that I can play any Disc from any region and all I have to do is just to change the settings to Region 1 in Arcsoft for US movies?
