Default Wrong Turn: The Foundation

Quote:

The new take on the long-running franchise will bring a group of unlucky friends to Harpers Ferry, West Virginia to spend a couple days hiking the Appalachian Trail. In this one, they are confronted by “The Foundation”, a community of people who have lived in the mountains since before the Civil War – oh, and they don’t take well to strangers.

We’ve been able to confirm the full cast that’s now listed on IMDb, which includes Matthew Modine (“Stranger Things”, 47 Meters Down), Damian Maffei (The Strangers: Prey at Night, Haunt), Bill Sage (“Hap and Leonard”), Emma Dumont (“The Gifted”), Valerie Jane Parker (“Greenleaf”), Chaney Morrow (Haunt) and David Hutchinson (“American Horror Story”).

Dylan McTee, Adrian Favela, Adain Bradley, Jeremy Ambler, Cory Scott Allen, Gary Ray Stearns, Rhyan Elizabeth Hanavan, Vardaan Arora, Mark Mench, Joshua Stephen Campbell, Jennie Malone, Brian James Fitzpatrick and Mark Angel also star.

Alan B. McElroy, the writer of the original film, wrote the new movie’s script.

I miss when sequels used to have the installment number in the title. Keep it simple Wrong Turn 7.

I would have liked to see this rebooted for the big screen but something tells me that's not happening with this one. Hopefully it's good.

When are we ever getting a remaster for the first one?! It desperately needs it.

Speaking of which, are we ever going to get a Final Destination 6? It's been almost nine years since part 5.

So is this a sequel or the remake they were talking about recently?

This is the remake. I don't know why it's not just called Wrong Turn.

They are mostly direct to video things on low budgets that stick to a formula. A few of them are decent enough horror flicks but the last couple have been extra crumby. I don't think the series gets much hate or complaints when new parts are made, because the Wrong Turn series was never held in very high regard in the first place, so there is no sense of a classic franchise being tarnished by bad movies. In fact the 2nd movie (the one with Henry Rollins) is generally regarded as being better than the original.

Aside from Eliza Dushku tied to a bed in a tight tank top ( ), the first one was terrible, and it wasn't even a hit movie, so making so many cheapquels to it is bizarre. Are horror fans that hard up for entertainment?

That's just a Fox thing. They did the same thing with Joy Ride, had like 2 or 3 sequels.

King of Direct to DVD sequels is Universal though. They made a sequel to The Car. THE CAR.

What about three Direct-to-Redbox sequels to Jarhead?

The first one was sorta OK (for a Texas Chainsaw Massacre update), but it was no Joy Ride.

In fact, Joy Ride was probably the only reason I gave Wrong Turn a chance as I don't usually see these types of movies. Even though I was no Paul Walker fan, the talent involved in that film (Dahl, Zahn, Sobieski & Levine) just pulled me in. Looking it up now on IMDB, you can throw in small roles for Jim Beaver and Walton Goggins as well.

Geez, maybe I should move this over to the Joy Ride thread...

The first did very well on video. When the second came out on DVD I worked at a video store. We had about 30 copies and every weekend for probably a month they'd be all checked out on the weekend. Definitely a testament to how successful the first became.

I'm sick of waiting for news on when this will release . I'm excited for it. I would assume it will release this fall.
