They are mostly direct to video things on low budgets that stick to a formula. A few of them are decent enough horror flicks but the last couple have been extra crumby. I don't think the series gets much hate or complaints when new parts are made, because the Wrong Turn series was never held in very high regard in the first place, so there is no sense of a classic franchise being tarnished by bad movies. In fact the 2nd movie (the one with Henry Rollins) is generally regarded as being better than the original.

King of Direct to DVD sequels is Universal though. They made a sequel to The Car. THE CAR. |

In fact, Joy Ride was probably the only reason I gave Wrong Turn a chance as I don't usually see these types of movies. Even though I was no Paul Walker fan, the talent involved in that film (Dahl, Zahn, Sobieski & Levine) just pulled me in. Looking it up now on IMDB, you can throw in small roles for Jim Beaver and Walton Goggins as well. Geez, maybe I should move this over to the Joy Ride thread... ![]() |

The first did very well on video. When the second came out on DVD I worked at a video store. We had about 30 copies and every weekend for probably a month they'd be all checked out on the weekend. Definitely a testament to how successful the first became.
