Default Does anyone know anything about Wireless routers?

I recently bought a used wireless router, and it is password protected. I can't get a hold of the seller, and it is pretty much useless to me without the password. Is there anyway to reset the password? I do have the install disk.

I think you have to locate the reset button on the router and hold it for 30 seconds or more. I may not be sure but it's been a while.

Yeah, we will need a model number. There's probably a physical reset button on the exterior of the router that can only be depressed by a pen or something small and pointy like a paperclip.

you'll need the default password after resetting. find a pdf of the manual for your model to get this password. its normally 'admin' or 'password'.

Yeah, this model has a red reset button that you can depress by using a paperclip or pen tip, which should put the router back to out-of-the-box configuration.

There is a way to reset the router.

what you need to do is find the reset button (which by the way is hidden inside a small hole) you would need a toothpick to press it.

Once you reset it then you are ready to start setting it up or using it immediately.

This.

Pretty well all Linksys routers have a password of "admin" and no username by default. So just reset it and type "admin" in the password field.

According to the manual which can be found here, the correct procedure is to press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds (page 7).

The default password is 'admin' (page 21).

Can we take this post to mean that you got it reset successfully?
