Default Source Code Review Thread (Spoilers)

RELEASE DATE: MARCH 11th 2011

From the Writer and Director of Moon, Duncan Jones
Source Code (2011)

Plot Summary
A soldier (Gyllenhaal) becomes part of an experimental government program that is investigating a train bombing. He is forced to relive the incident over and over again until he can find out who is responsible and how to prevent the next terrorist attack from occurring.

Directed By: Duncan Jones
Starring: Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle Monaghan, Vera Farmiga, and Jeffrey Wright

Quote:

After Duncan Jones landed on the scene with his highly acclaimed first feature, MOON, it was safe to say that many fans of the indie sci-fi flick and the director himself were anxiously awaiting to see what he would follow-up with. If you thought MOON jettisoned your brain, wait till you hear about SOURCE CODE.

The film stars Jake Gyllenhaal as a soldier who finds himself the subject of a government experiment, unbeknownst to his knowledge. The experiment? He is transferred into the body of a train commuter and forced to witness a horrible train bombing, reliving the event over and over in the hopes to discover who is responsible for the act of terrorism. It’s like GROUNDHOG DAY meets 12 MONKEYS meets awesome!

Duncan Jones tells Empire
"On this one I’ve got four really talented actors – Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle Monaghan, Vera Farmiga, Jeffrey Wright. It’s a new test, a new experience…’ compared to the previous Moon. We hear that it was Jake ‘who pushed him to board the sci-fi thriller’ and, of the plot, Duncan says Jake plays ‘a military man who wakes up on a train not knowing how he got there. Before he gets a chance to work it out, things change in such a dramatic way, he doesn’t know whether the train’s real or not… When it was brought to me it was serious, quite cerebral, dark and depressing, My take was, “This could actually be quite fun…”‘ Especially with Jake on board ‘He’s a funny guy."

I've known about this movie for about a year now. I remember Jake Gyllenhaal was only in talks then and Topher Grace was also a contender for the role. I read what it's about and some of the script. Wow! This movie is going to be unbelievable The story sounds intriguing and exciting. Plus, since this is Duncan Jones' second movie after Moon, you can really trust this director and know this movie is going to be a-wesome!

It's like Groundhog Day, but his day begins and ends right when they are on the train. It ends with the train crashing, and begins with them right when they are going on to the train.

I dunno, sounds a little silly to me, expescially if it's going to take it self seriously.

It could be pulled off, we'll see.

I can't wait

I loved Moon, great first movie for Duncan Jones. If he continues that way he'll definitely be a career I'll follow

Try this one.

The concept seems a little silly to me, but it looks like it will be very enjoyable.

Moon was one of my favorite movies last year as well.

I think it looks good, though the trailer seems to make the concept more confusing than it already is

I thought that Mute was the movie planned to be in the same universe as Moon, and that Source Code was unrelated?

I like the talent involved, but the concept seems very silly to me. We'll see how it is as a film.
