Has anyone else noticed this? It seems that over the last few weeks (as the season ended and gears shifted to Madden 11), the AI in online mode for Madden seems to be getting extremely one sided for extended periods.
For instance, I'm Atlanta facing the Raiders. I've been handling the game all day. The other user isn't anything special. I start off the game with a fumble recovery, TD, FG, FG, TD. The Raiders have a FG and a TD in the same span (including said fumble and INT thrown). However, last 3 min of third quarter rolls around, and all of a sudden Turner, who was averaging 5 YPC is now having trouble getting 2, even in an open field (lots of 'trip' tackles). WRs are now dropping 3 out of 4 passes instead of catching 3 out of 4. Yet, somehow, passes are being caught by Oakland even in double coverage. OAK QB is getting passes off in the midst of a sack...for completions! Fargas is breaking 1, 2 tackles each run, extending losses to 8 yard gains. They have a couple 3rd and 17's and are getting ridiculous gains on plays that should go for 5 yards (Darren McFadden is evidently a lock to get a 1st down, whether running or catching). TD and FG by OAK then we're tied w/ 3:20 left. I march it up to their 35, pass to Gonzalez for a 4 yard gain on 2nd down...he's barely touched and somehow coughs up the ball (Tony Gonzalex, who has 6 fumbles in his entire career). Jenkins DOES not go for loose ball and remains with back to ball and actually walks AWAY from the play for a second. Oakland picks up and runs it back for a TD. I get the ball back, and, again, march it to about their 40 with about 1:40 left. Here's how this set goes down: 1st Down - Incomplete pass on crossing route to Booker, knocked away by DB 2nd Down - Screen to Turner for 4 yards. Had an open field, but he pulled the 'I don't want to go forward even though you're pressing the stick' move. 3rd Down - Incomplete pass to a wide open Roddy White 10 yards down field. Open, ball's there, but it bounces right off him. Not even touched after the play. That's how open he was. 4th Down - Catch D in blitz on a RB roll-out, Turner WIDE OPEN in the flat with lots of green/easy walk to sideline in front of him. Incomplete. He just does not catch the pass, no other way to explain it. That type of scenario explains the last 10 games I've played. Having a game in hand, then my team not even playing in the 2nd half. Doesn't matter if its Atlanta or New Orleans or New England or any team I may choose. The team starts off well, but then all of a sudden the AI seems to say, "OK, you're done scoring for the rest of the game." I've marched it down to the 10, needing a TD to tie, and its like the red zone D of the team I'm playing has all of a sudden become an impenetrable wall. Just seems that the AI is far too involved in the online games more so now than it used to be. As if its trying to even out the games to keep things closer, but doing it in a blatantly "your turn, my turn" type of way, using half time as a general guide. Starting to get extremely annoying and ruining the online experience. I take my losses (25% DNF), but lately the game has just been ridiculous! I get so pissed sometimes because the AI makes the game unbelievable. |
