Arrow "Pet Sematary" Resurrected

Oh god damnit! Now this too..........

Quote:
Matthew Greenberg (1408, Reign of Fire) is going to be writing the remake of the 1989 Stephen King flick, Pet Sematary. THR says that Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, G.I. Joe) who teamed with Greenberg on 1408 (and who already has 34 other projects on his plate according to Imdb), will be producing the new Pet Sematary along with Steven Schneider (Paranormal Activity). No cast has been announced yet, but given Bonaventura’s recent box office successes, expect at least one big name. According to the article, the project had George Clooney interested at one point.

The 1989 cult classic tells the story of a suburban couple that moves to Maine. When the couple’s child is killed in a traffic accident, the father buries the body in the pet cemetery located across the street, which sounds odd, but I suppose Maine has that effect on people. Because of some dark magic, the little tyke pops right back out of the ground and proceeds to wreak havoc and run amok. It’s pretty much like Baby’s Day Out but more macabre and only slightly more violent.

Well, at least it'll have better production value than The Shining or Carrie M4TV remakes, but if that statement ain't the definition of damning w/ faint praise, I don't know what is.

It's been YEARS since I read the book, but I seem to remember the movie being pretty faithful to it. They're really digging around for these remakes. The wife's sister that was hidden away in the bedroom in the original always creeped me out. Especially when Rachel walks into the room and she's just kind of huddled in the corner. :shudder:

l would love to see high quality, big budget remakes of It and The Stand.

Can you imagine if how good they could be if given the same TLC and budget as Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit?

The fact that the jackass who "directed" Paranormal Activity will be directing this, it screams "GIANT PIECE OF SHIT" just like Paranormal did. If he ruins this movie so help me god, I will punch his unborn children in the face!

Why?!? If its a cult-classic, why do they need to remake it? Emphasis on classic.

I'm against this being remade also, but I find it funny that you have nothing against the remake of ANOES, but you do with this.

this was one of the most disturbing and gruesome movies of a Stephen King novel-- I imagine that the remake will simply take the same elements, up the buckets of blood and gore ratio and make it a revolting experience

Liked the book. Liked the movie. I see no need for remake though.

Why is that funny? The original ANOES where all crap without any scares, and deserves a serious and chilling remake. Pet Semetary however was scary as shit for me as as kid, and I have very fond memories.

Based on the experiences as a kid, this movie wasn't made for kids, even though kids enjoy watching horror movies. Pet Sematary was a serious horror movie unlike its sequel.

So your argument would work for someone who feels the same way about ANOES. To each his own. I thought both were scary, but would have to agree that Pet Semetary is scarier and the book is even better.

Why? Because people went in theaters to see Chainsaw, Friday The 13th, Halloween....remakes and they made money out of it. So of course they will look for other stuff to remake and make money

As a child instead of Care Bears and Land Before Time, my dad always let me watch horror movies with him. I think I was 5 the first time I saw this movie and Child's Play 2. Lol, Between horror and Tarantino at a very young age, I'm pretty sure that is the reason I am such a ****ed up adult. But to be far, he did let me watch the Sandlot and Lassie on occasion as well. But nothing with sex or nudity, cause that would mess a kid up! hahahaha
