Default Took the plunge and made a Saturday out of it!

Here are the upgrades I mention! Took all day Saturday to get everything presentable!

So here are the supplies for my video upgrade! Optoma HD20, Elite Screen Sable Series 100" 16:9 fixed frame, Forza 700 Series HDMI cable (12M), Level Mount Universal mount, Polk PSW110 10" sub (for my matching .2 setup...heheh)

My friend Gary who helped with a majority of the work that need drywall work. Thanks Gary!

Optoma HD20 mounted

Completed setup - I'm still fiddling with the center channel holder - it was the TV stand for my 60" DLP, so I think I can make some improvements here. I also need some cable management.

Complete setup - straight view using a camera phone. Will update this.

Vere nice.

Just a FYI. If you want a very cheap way (maybe $20) to make the image look much better, surround that screen with more black (the entire wall if possible). I personally used fabric, which I simply used black tacs to pin up for a total cost of $25. Your contrast will appear to increase significantly and the image will pop like it didn't before (also creating something to cover/mask the black bars for scrope films is in my opinion a must). It doesn't sound like it would do much, but in my mind my projector looks at least twice as good since I did this and I no longer use high bulb mode (as when I do the image is far to bright for my eyes).

Also reducing reflections back onto the screen (eg: dark ceiling etc), will result in a better and sharper image.

Great upgrades! I just went projector a few days ago myself, and now I just wish I did it sooner. Congrats on the new setup!

Nice setup

Im new to all this, and my first post!!, ive had a sanyo plv-z700 projector for a few months now, and thought is was great at first with the impact of it, had it set up in a light room with white ceiling etc, now ive painted the room Kodak 18% grey (dulux 6000n) and the difference in contrast is night and day, especially intra-scenes with strong blacks and a light skys say, before the blacks were washed out, colours have a lot more punch

£20 tin of paint looks like ive spent £2000 on a new projector

id advice trying to darken you room with a matt paint if you can and covering anything that reflects light

Im now starting through my collection again and enjoying even more

Thanks for the suggestions - I'm definitely gonna try and get this passed through the wife....understand that when I brought this stuff home on Friday, she had NO idea! LOL! But I'm all about making the picture even better!

Hehehe, I can't imagine how that would have gone over (probably quite smothly, but I prefer my lonney tunes version in my head). Anyway, to calibrate you really nead a colormeter which a descent one goes for $150. However I understand not wanting to drop that kind of money on it straight away, but eventually getting one makes for a great investment.
