anybody have these or anything like them? I'm not to concerned about the sound from my current sub irritating my neighbors. I just think these are a cool idea, but have never heard a lot about them. Here is a link to their web site. http://www.thebuttkicker.com/home_theater/index.htm

The base plate that has the transducer connected to it (the transducer is the thing that does the shaking) that goes under one of the couches legs has rubber isolators and it comes with 3 other rubber isolators that go under the other legs of the couch. The decouple it from the floor, and thus no one under you will hear anything at all. It works great for this purpose.

You can find them on Amazon too for the same price if this matters...good luck! By the way, there are pics in my gallery of the amp and transducer to give you an idea of how it looks.

For everyone who has one of these, I'm toying with the idea of putting one in my sofa in a few months. However, I have a double reclining sofa. Each end reclines, and the middle section doesn't move. I'm wondering if the separate components of the sofa would ruin the effect unless you sit in a certain spot. The sofa does share a common base frame all the way across though. Does anyone else use a buttkicker or bass shaker on a similar sofa? If so how are the results for you?

Yes it is. I have it pulled out just far enough from the wall that when you kick the feet up and recline back it's about an inch from the wall. However, it's much farther from the wall at the bottom. The base of it sits out almost 12" from the wall. This is just because the back angles up and back instead of going straight up like some sofas do.

I don't have buttkickers, or any brand name, but I've had transducers in my furniture for over 10 years.
I split them from the sub, and run them separately with an old amp (it didn't have DTS so I replaced it) They work great. Especially if you have kids visiting and don't tell them. At some point in the film, the chair shakes, and they look at you with the strangest expression.... ![]() |

Thanks guys.
Forsberg what may work out well for me is that the sofa has 'feet' on the frame at 4 places along the back and 4 places along the front. That may work out so that I can put it more toward the center and not all the way at one end. Anyway this is still a way's off. I may try to plan on this for my birthday in May. I just wanted to start getting some information to decide if it would work in my sofa (which apparently it will) and so I can plan to start saving. My wife and I have decided not to buy anything else on credit unless we absolutely have to. It sucks having to wait to get it, but when I finally do get it it's great knowing it's paid for free and clear. I would love to put one on my loveseat as well, but since it's not against a wall there would have to be cables running out across the floor and I wouldn't like that at all. Even if I went with a wireless kit for the LFE signal I would still have to run the power cord out to an outlet. |

Only the amp (aside from the transmitter), but speaker wire would be evident running from the amp to the transducer if you decided to put one in the love seat as well. I do see what you mean about the transmitter though being a problem. I can tell you the regular version that is not wireless would not need that A/C adaptor. Both kits require the speaker wire to power the transducer, so I wouldn't use the wireless kit then since the transmitter would need to be plugged in and there is no need for plugging in anything with the transducer with the regular buttkicker.
