does anyone know when all of the south park and the simpsons seasons are coming out on blu ray?

South Park Season 12 is on Blu-ray already, which looks fantastic! As for the others, not a clue, sorry.

As much I would like to see it happen, I don't really see either shows coming to blu-ray anytime soon from the first time they aired.

Which is a shame for those who only collect blu-ray.

It is possible, since both South Park and the Simpsons were filmed and converted to digital, so as long as they provide the film, there can be a possibility of it coming in high definition. If it was filmed in video or digital in Standard definition, then no.

Good point, I just see something like the simpsons being so much effort, since there is a whole lot of sets already available on DVD it might be too much hassle for them to reproduce the entire lot of episodes onto blu-ray for possibly not too big of a profit?

South Park Studios is actually in the process of converting every episode of South Park from SD 4x3 to HD True 16x9. The studio still has every element available to them so they can re-render each frame at 16x9 without having to crop the image. For the first part of Season 12, since they were converting to HD in a rush, these are cropped but they will be the last episodes to be done this way.

As for the Simpsons, the early seasons used poor filmstock so while the Blu-ray Disc will offer slightly better picture, its not going to be a huge improvement.

If you're looking for The Simpsons on Blu-ray, Season 20 (which is when it started being made in HD) is available on Blu-ray in the US, and I believe it's region free. As of when I post this message, there's three copies available on Amazon in their Marketplace, but they're all quite pricey (2 used, like new condition as £39.99, and £52.01, and 1 new copy as £70.13).
