Default Kuro Elite Calibration

Had Jeff Meier from AccuCal give my Pioneer 60" Elite a work over. All I can say is WOW! Amazing improvement on a set I thought could not be improved much. Jeff is a real professional with lots of experience and the best calibration equipment, plus a very pleasant and informative guy to visit with. I HIGHLY recommend him if you are considering a calibration. I am impressed.

Congrats! Your setup keeps improving, you should add some pics of your 2-channel setup in your gallery too.

I had Jeff come up to calibrate my Kuro this week. Ide say he did a great job. He was very informative, and knew what he was doing. The pic is clear and as life like as it can get. I do have my preferences, as to what looks better with tv, games, and movies. My eye is so wicked, im constantly changing my picture settings. I have no regrets, since I know I have the best pic I can get.

In what specific areas of PQ did you see improvements?..I have the 101FD and am debating spending the cash on a pro calibration. I have unlocked the ISF Day and Night settings..with ISF Night for movies I can't honestly see how it could be improved upon

I recommend that you have Jeff calibrate your audio systems when making appointments for video calibrations. His just as impressive with calibrating audio as he is with video.

I dont know the tech reasons/facts for the improvement on the pioneer kuro but my take is you get a brighter picture and deeper colors , that is what i could see . a nice improvement over what i had . I will have Jeff Meier calibrate my 101 in April , he did my 151 Nov 2009

Mark

Tech reasons would be your white balance being more accurate with no hints of green, red, or blue to them, so they will look brighter just from that perspective. Colors adhere more to the standard making them look more natural. I only wish colors can be adjusted on the non-elite Kuro =(

Can you guys with the Elites check something for me? When you turn on PureCinema do the colors/white balance revert to default? Such is the case with my 5020FD so I cannot see the calibrated results with PureCinema turned on. It did make taking pictures of pre and post calibration results much easier.

Hi: New Kuro Elite 151 owner here; bought from BB and was blown away by the colors. Then had their Geek Squad guy come and calibrate it...the inky blacks disappeared! He pulled the HDMI cable from the back of my Sony Bluray and stuck that in his unit and worked from there to calibrate the standard setting (good thing for Pure). He wrote down all his adjustments so I can keep track of them when I (as I will) re-adjust the colors. Question: my 42" LCD Vizio hdtv has that lovely lifelike video quality to bluray and hd broadcasts....can almost reach out and touch the actors. I don't have that on the Elite...the calibration guy said the 60" screen can't duplicate the video quality since the screen is larger. Somehow...I don't believe him. Any comments? Shouldn't this flagship of plasmas be able to produce the lifelike images?
