Don't know if you guys can help me out with this.

When i download lossy and lossless Dolby Digital and DTS intro trailers from this site i get no sound from the lossless version but the lossy version works fine. I extract them using winRaR and put them on my USB drive and transfer them to my PS3.

Anyone know why the lossless has no sound?

Here is the site http://www.demo-world.eu/trailers/hi...n-trailers.php

ps3 probably just can't play the file because of whatever coding is used for your download. I'm really just guessing, but would also like to know myself.

Maybe you need a program for it to work? I get alot of MKV files that I watch though my HTPC, and I've read that I can do it though my PS3, however I haven't upgraded the HD on the PS3 yet, so I've still only got about 40 gigs to play around with, so I can't really store many files on there.

Why not try contacting support through the PS3 site?

Default Hmm?

I think I can field this one. You are trying to play files on your PS3 which contain a loseless audio track, am I right? If I am right then in short I can say that this is not possible unless you convert the DTS-HD MA or Dolby TrueHD to LPCM. Either that or you convert the files into an AVCHD and store that your USB drive in a very specific way. The problem is the PS3 can't read loseless tracks contained directly on files.

The PS3 can read files with LPCM and with AVCHD the PS3 reads those like it's a Blu-Ray disc and therefore can read the loseless track.

May not be the best answer, but it should help you out.

do you get the same results when you burn it on a cd/dvd format?

just wondering.

also double check what settings you have on your ps3, bitstream or lcpm as well, that might do the trick.

i will try to re-inact this particular event later when i get home...

This seems about right. I didn't know the PS3 couldn't play lossless tracks on files. Thanks
