Thumbs up Documentary Star Wars!

I know, I know, another Star Wars Thread on Blu???

Not quite. Since it is not out yet and will NOT be out for a long long time. I decided to put in the Star Wars Trilogy Special Features DVD for a change.

Since it might not be on blu for a LONG LONG time.

Just a question?? I have seen a lot of talk about George Lucas and how much he sucks as a director. I agree. His latest films are for the most, need some help.

However, not Star Wars!!!

If you have not watched the Star Wars doc in a few years. Do!!!

Great Fun to say the least!!!

Are you talking about Empire Of Dreams from A&E that came out 4 or 5 years ago that is included in the SE set?

That is a great documentary, really show the struggle it was to make Star Wars in 1975-77 and how almost everyone never imagine how big it would become.

I'm seeing The People vs. George Lucas sometime next week. If it was just going to be Lucas bashing for 90 minutes, I'd pass (since I actually still have respect for the guy), but it seems like they're going to be showing both sides, so it looks interesting.

Oh, and for those interested, a book called "Using the Force" by Will Brooker is an excellent read about Star Wars fan culture. I highly recommend it.

Yes, it is the doc that came with the trilogy! I am ONLY a fan of the original 3.

I get sick of Star Wars from time to time as well. However, I just needed a fix last night!

And this is not a when is Star Wars coming out on blu thread!!

Just a simple look at what was going on in the 70's when Lucas got these movies out.

I see it more as 30 years of Lucas and some people get tired of it. I think his writting is pretty much what it was back in the 70's. The one thing you can hold against him, sometimes too much CGI or thinking too much about the big picture and not enough about the smaller details.

I think he's just a victim of 30 years in the spotlight and many people love to hate after that long. Look at other less in spotlight/recent directors who have made movies that are not exactly big on the story or script side of things but don't receive as much hate bashing as he does.

The year before...the big sci-fi movie that came out was 'Logan's Run'. What a huge difference a year and a much better vision makes.

And I have no problem whatsoever in his direction of Star Wars(1977) at all. As a matter of fact...when I was a kid, it was this very movie that I first noticed directing styles of movies because of this and became very fascinated about the different ways that a movie can be directed.

Yea. I caught a couple of those episodes on the Sc-Fi channel when they had nothing else to run. You can also throw in those awful 'Planet of the Apes' series shows that they were filling in time slots with also. (retch)
