Default The Tudors: Seasons 1 & 2 Cut/Uncut?

Hi guys. Yesterday over at the slipcover thread Demiscy mentioned that Canada had uncut versions of The Tudors: Seasons 1 & 2. Now I know the term uncut/unrated/extended gets overused a lot. So are the Canadian releases Uncut because their television broadcasts had edits to them? Or do they feature scenes/footage not in the US and European boxsets?

I've had a look around and can't seem to find conclusive proof and DVDCompare doesn't have a comparison. I only paid 14.99 for the two season set, but I hate it when we don't get the complete versions (especially when they get broadcast on television like The Matrix). Out of principle I'm tempted to return the set but I'm on the fence at the moment.

Season one has a running time of 8h34m and season two 8h44m. This seems a lot shorter than the US and Canadian versions unless Sony put the PAL 50hz speed on the specs as a mistake.

I'd appreciate it if someone could shine light on the matter and thanks to Demiscy for bringing it to my attention.

I am fairly certain the UK Blu-rays are not cut, there's nothing on the BBFC site, and that the 'uncut' on the Canadian Blu-rays is just marketing (it might have been cut for Canadian TV or something.)

However I can't confirm because I've never seen anyone who actually has the Canadian sets post the exact run time (not simply quote what's on the box, which we know can often be unreliable.) Also it looks like the first two Canadian seasons only have DD5.1 audio, where the UK releases have LPCM and TrueHD.

Thanks Pyoko I had similar thoughts about it been a marketing ploy (or it may be just a fact about the Canadian release). I'm sure there would have been more threads if our version had been cut. The BBFC thing is strange though as they don't have to submit work for a television broadcast (I think) and there are hundreds if not thousands of films or television episodes that haven't been submitted and released on DVD/BD but have aired on television.

Theres nothing listed on Movie-Censorship.com either so it's more than likely uncut.

OK found out the reason behind the "UNCUT" sub-title on the Canadian sets:

http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Tudors-Season-2/10688

Basically the tv station that broadcasts them, shows them cut. That's why they mark their dvd/BD releases as uncut

Thanks Demiscy mate. It would have been crazy for the DVD/BD's to be cut. I wonder why the different running times though?

I'm sure we'll have similar questions crop up for The Walking Dead and Spartacus Blood and Sand.
