Default Doc Hollywood

Call me sentimental, but I really would like to see a BD version of Doc Hollywood starring Michael J. Fox, Julie Warner and directed by Michael Caton-Jones.

I have it on laserdisc, but never bought the DVD because too many reviews slammed the transfer or source print.

This is a Warner Bros. film.

I just ran across that on HBO a couple of weeks ago, hadn't seen that in awhile. The best scene is when the ole' country doc gives the kid a Coke. I honestly don't know that I need to see it in HD though.

Well, I said it was a sentimental pick.

I thought it had a decent boxoffice take, no?

I enjoyed it because it was filmed in South Carolina, had a good story, and Julie Warner was in it. The DVD had a crap transfer, though.

It took place in South Carolina, but I believe was mostly filmed in Florida.

Personally I'd settle for a decent DVD transfer of this one,as the only DVD available is an old fullscreen lousy transfer.

I too have held on to the laserdisc of "Doc Hollywood" and refused to buy the VHS-to-DVD version. I'll take an anamorphic DVD, but I'd love a blu-ray (instant purchase).

Also Warner, I will pay about $300 for a copy of "Twice Upon a Time". Seriously, no bullshit. As long as it's the dirty HBO cut. There are many others who would pay obscene amounts for this one. It hasn't been on video since the VHS went out of print, and never in its original form. Get crackin!

This is one of those films that got released the right way on Laserdisc but they completely trashed it on DVD by releasing it in Fullscreen. The film obviously badly needs either an Anamorphic DVD or Blu-ray. I don't really look at the films release on DVD not in OAR as a real release unless it's in OAR of Widescreen or Anamorphic WS. The aspect ratio specs for Doc Hollywood on imdb are:

Aspect ratio
1.37 : 1 (negative ratio)
1.85 : 1 (intended ratio)

I still have the Laserdisc, never bothered with the DVD since it's Full Screen only. This needs a Blu-ray release for sure! Would be a good double-feature bait with another film does Warner release those anymore?

Another one I don't own on DVD since it never got an anamorphic release, or even widescreen for that matter. Hopefully it'll come out on blu at some point.

No, only version I'd seen on BD was a different one, with Owen Wilson, Bonnie Hunt and Paul Newman...
Oh, and all the characters had been turned into animated cars, for some reason.

Me too!!! I love this movie, and wish for at least a decent transfer to DVD, but bluray would be much much better.

You know, it's one of those movies that I could see going as a Best Buy exclusive. Day one for me!

Great movie!! I just pulled it out to view a few snippets....

Poor transfer, and full screen only....Picture quality is * 1/2 stars out of *****,

Technically it only got 5.18MB/sec on the bite rate scale....

This movie screams Blu ray......Come-on Warner Bros.

It's one of my guilty pleasures, my wife hates it.
