Default Purchasing Rules for BD's and Games?

Since I'm moving soon I don't have tons of money to throw around for blu-rays and videogames like I used to. So I've started to try and "tone down" what I buy and how much I spend on a movie or game. My general rule that I've come up with is "spending no more than $25 (after shipping) on a single movie" and "spending no more than $40 (after shipping) on a single videogame".

A few years - even months - ago, it didn't matter what the price was. If I wanted it, I bought it. But after a few terrible blind buys and a few really short and sub-par videogames for a whopping $60 a piece, I'm a tad upset with myself for these purchases. And of course, moving doesn't help having tons of cash to throw around.

So my question to you BD's out there:

Do you have personal rules for purchases (mainly games and BD's)? Or if you see something you want, you buy it instantly and don't give two seconds of thought to the price. I see alot of people on here with over 300 BD's and I always wonder, do you buy these cheap? or do you just buy them with no second thought of price?

Obviously for some things price may not affect me (example: Alien Quadrilogy I will buy pretty much no matter what the price), but for the majority I have now instigated a "ceiling price" that I will no longer go past.

You?
