Default Fox, UV

Just found this article and found it very interesting that they are doing this. I know when DVD started to come out they did this for a while to get everyone to migrate towards it. Just do not know if everyone will jump on this because of they will not get the special features or the collectibles.

They did this with a few movies already. The latest was Battleship. You could buy it for $19.95 or $24.95 (don't remember which) as a download on VUDU about a week or two before street date. It's actually pretty cool, but I don't think I would use it. I still like having the physical item to have. I'm a geek like that.

P.S. You can buy Snow White and the Huntsman right now as a download on VUDU for $22.99. Again, I'm holding out for the Steelbook.

What's the difference between this and VUDU digital copies? I buy the blus for movies I MUST have TDK, Avengers, etc. I pay $2-$3 for digital copies for VUDU for the movies I kinda want like The Grey, Snow White and the Huntsman, etc. I guess the difference is the DHD includes special features? I love the concept of VUDU, just wish lossless audio was an option.

From what I understand, Fox DHD's "HD 3 weeks early for $15" is to encourage digital ownership so only applies to buying it from Vudu, iTunes, Amazon, PSN, etc. Not sure yet about special features. iTunes's Prometheus page references some, but Vudu currently does not (may arrive on the 18th).

Also, since all new releases Fox titles will now support Ultraviolet, if you buy it from UV retailers (currently just Vudu. Amazon and M-GO soon), you'll also get UV access to the film and we able to watch it on other UV retailers and apps (like Flixster).

I must admit i drank the VUDU kool-aid and tried to go all digital. Problem is, none of the FOX, Disney or Lionsgate titles are UV or D2D (yet). Also- audio quality is a joke. Some films are 5.1 and some aren't. With the volume turned up all the way, you can barely hear the dialog and there is no bass. Now i am just using VUDU to D2D and get most of my films on UV for when they can correct these problems or i use a different app to watch content.
