I will be picking up the high end one.

However part of me wants to wait until the 2nd generation.

I had the same hesitation until my wife pointed out that I could always give it to my son and then I could pick myself up the 2nd or 3rd gen version.

I wouldn't know who to give it to. I am guessing it all depends on how its doing after release date, if all is good then I will pick up one. Otherwise, I will just wait.

Was going to get one for the wife. However having just got her an iphone last month we'll probably wait until the 2nd generation version to finally make the purchase.

I will be checking it out in the apple store after some of the excitement dies down.

Poor SFO residents. The NYC store is open 24 / 7 and it just so happens to be directly between my house and my office!

I make sure I have plenty of savings, my kids have a college fund, and all bills are paid before I buy these things. If I don't have the cash for it, I don't buy it. PERIOD.

I'll start with the 150 MB month to month for $15.00. See how my usage is and then upgrade to to the $25 Unlimited plan if I need to.

Someone with a 58", and two 42" flat panels is talking about disposable income? Does one really need 3 different televisions?

I for one would use an iPad far more then I would use a second and third television.

You obviously do not have a family of 5 people with 2 main living areas in your house and a bedroom you like to relax in on Saturday mornings. Sets have also been purchased over the past 7 years.

I just don't see the point in one of these. Are people THAT addicted to the net that they need to carry one of these monstrosities around with them wherever they go? Sure, it's the latest/coolest piece of technology and everyone who has one will be the center of attention until they become commonplace and the public moves on to something else. I have a Blackberry for all of my email, text, phone and occasional web needs when I am out-and-about, an iPod for music on the go and my laptop. Personally, I have zero use for something like this other than the coolness factor, and I can see that getting old real fast. Like I said, to each his own.
