right, after seeing some of the comments on this article:
https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=2596 I was generally intrigued by comments like Quote:
Seems to me all the criticisms here come from people who either thing 3d is still in it's 1950's red/cyan stage, or that "3d is unwatchable" or some other stuff like that. Rather than starting a new thread full of such comments, what true experiences, apart from theaters have ppl had with 3d- if any? Are such comments perhaps politically motivated? That is against 3d on principle? Why?? |

I think as you said alot of people here still think it is the red/cyan glasses. Remember alot of people here have pretty much given up on going to the cinema so they have no idea about what advances have been made. and I also find it ignorant even though sometimes we tell em about the new tech they still say they don't like wearing glasses or it gives them headaches without even trying it.

What 3D movies do you have that play on the iZ3D monitor?

I guarantee you most of the haters would change their mind once they experience the new 3-D theater tech that's out there right now. Monsters vs. Aliens made me a believer in 3-D again. I was awe struck. Absolute ZERO ghosting, no headaches, no dizziness. Just crystal clear imagery that simply came to life and completely enveloped my sense of sight. The 3-D didn't seem gratuitous in the sense that they were trying to make things come at you. It all felt like a natural part of the experience. Plus, we're now talking about quality films being made this way, so we finally have the best of both worlds.
So yeah, I'm in. I want this at home. But I want the Real D stuff at home and will only settle for that once they're able to bring it. Circular polarization is the way to go. It's perfect. It doesn't require wired glasses, or glasses with batteries or the shuttering effect or anything like that, which I'm glad about. Plus, you can tilt your head and move around a bit without losing your lunch. I realize this stuff might not come out for a while though, so... Now I wait... Same complaint holds true for needing special equipment. Either glasses or a different set. I've personally yet to see it done well, so I'm surprised by the Monsters vs. Aliens comment that it was "crystal clear". Even the digital projection in our Ultrascreen digital theater wasn't as sharp to me as what I can see at home. |

Well, I guess I'm just as surprised to hear you say that other people have said they found the latest 3-D to be blurry and headache inducing. I have yet to hear anyone say that myself and everyone I know personally who have seen the latest 3-D movies walked away just as impressed as I was.
Maybe some theaters in other states don't have their equipment set up properly? I understand that it takes time to tweak the system so that it works with 100% effectiveness. Every theater needs to be optimized I guess. I just got back from seeing Battle for Terra and again, I was very impressed with the 3-D tech. No blurriness. No headaches. Just crystal clear imagery. |

I would have been one of those who was against it until I took my son to see Monsters V. Aliens. The only showing that would fit into my schedule was the Imax 3-D version. I was not happy about it at first, and almost got my money back. I was shocked by how amazing it looked. I will definitely got see movies in 3-D, but I am not too big on the BD 3-D. Journey to the Center of the Earth gave me a bad headache and did not look all that good. It has to come further along, but I am willing to try it again if it gets some good feedback.

Perhaps too many people feel had by the cheap, red/blue anaglyph movies of yesterday and even also, the BD 3-D movies of today. They really need to stop releasing blu ray movies with that method of 3-D. It's ruining its reputation all over again. Movie studios should just hold out on it altogether until they're at least able to integrate Real D technology into home theaters everywhere.

That is plain being ignorant stupid. You haven't seen any Digital 3D movies yet you go around spreading FUD and *****ing and moaning about it. How about you get out of your "Blu-ray home theater" and spend some money on a Digital 3d and THEN comment on Digital 3D.

I had no complaints viewing the new Sony 3D TVs at NAB in Vegas a couple weeks ago. I was very impressed, it was so clear. Then we went to M&M World and saw their 3D video thing and we did get headaches from the blurriness.

Your attitude isn't helping either. Waaah waaah waah, people don't like what I like so I'm going to be immature, waaaaaaaaaah. That's all I hear.
I have no problem with 3D but I personally don't need it. Many of the 3D films are those that don't interest me. I saw Harry Potter 5 in IMAX with the 3D ending and it didn't add anything for me. Plus with me having glasses, putting 3D glasses over them is quite annoying. I have heard that Monsters vs. Aliens is amazing with 3D, but that's not even a movie I want to see. Seems like most 3D movies are that way, for me. |

In my opinion, 3D is just the method studios are employing to get theatres to install digital projection. Once that's over with and the audiences are over the gimmick, 3D will die out again.
I have not seen a 3D presentation since the Imax days, but I'm willing to try again once Coraline comes out in Australia. I have been very unimpressed/disappointed with every 3D demonstration I have seen so far. |

I think Avatar will be what converts all the 3D bashers over. Once they see a James Cameron movie shot with actual 3D cameras (unlike the Harry Potter 5 ending which was shot in 2D then digitally converted to 3D) that is no "gimmicky" and has more then enough substance for the story then people will want more 3D and stop bashing it. And the reason studios want Digital 3D is not because of Digital projectors but because of piracy. Think about it would you want to watch a blurry 2D cam of a 3D movie or actually pay the money and go see it in 3D.
