Default Denon BDP-1610 Source Direct

I am trying to understand the function of Source Direct. I currently have the Denon BDP-1610 and the Denon AVR2310CI. I am looking to get the best picture possible out of my Samsung LED DLP (HL61A750) which does support 1080p24. Should I be setting my BDP-1610 to Source Direct and allowing the AVR2310CI Anchor Bay ABT-2010 processor to control my video processing for the best possible picture or just allow the BDP-1610 to process my video?

I have the BDP-1610 connected to the AVR2310CI via HDMI and the AVR2310CI connected via HDMI to my TV. My settings, the BDP-1610 I am currently switching between 1080p and 1080p24 depending on whether I'm watching a DVD or Blu Ray. The AVR2310CI's video processor is turned off on the source I have the BDP-1610's HDMI plugged into.

Would it be a better suggestion to use Source Direct on the BDP-1610 and then turn the AVR2310CI's video processor on, toggling between 1080p and 1080p24 depending on my viewing source?

Sorry guys I tried my best typing all this out. I realize I'm just going to try it out anyhow and see for myself but I just wanted to hear people’s suggestions and try and understand some of the science behind it. Thanks everyone!
