United Kingdom Bad Day

Just released and no mention on this forum that I could find http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bad-Day-Blu-...4689465&sr=8-1 Its a real treat when you see a low budget film that exceeds your expectations and marks its director as one to watch. Sadly this is not one of those occasions, this is a truly abysmal film. Firstly the title is misleading as very little happens till one pm. Daylight scenes in particular are flat and overlit, combined with an inane script and performances which are either wooden or hysterical create no tension whatsover. Blu ray does the film no favours as the extra resolution is merciless to the awful cinematography and editing, during one "tense" scene I could see the mould lines on an airsoft replica gun. The only fun to be had is from the staggeringly awful rear projection during the many car journeys, there's a foot chase that owes more to Benny Hill than Point Break and a couple of very silly catfights where the blows clearly don't connect. Deleted scenes, trailer and making of show the film was released in 2.35:1 while the blu is 1.78:1, I simply couldn't be bothered to check whether the matte was opened or the sides cropped. My advice? Buy excellent low budget gem The Hide instead, sadly not on blu but very cheap and intensely gripping
