PS3 with no internet connection..

Is there a way to download PS3 updates on a thumb drive and then upload it on a PS3??

The reason I'm asking is that I'm going to be without internet for a little while and I needed to know if there is any kind of alternative for people like me. I'm not really caring about playing online or anything like that for now. However I would still like to be able to get system and game updates without my system having to be connected to the hard drive. Can anyone tell me if that is even a possibility?

Hi go to the playstation website of your country and find the 3.15 update then :-Before starting, use your PC to create a folder named 'PS3' on the storage media or USB device. Within the folder, create a folder named 'UPDATE' (This folder name is case sensitive and must appear in all capital letters). Once the UPDATE folder has been created, download the PS3 system software update to this location.

Once the update data has been saved, disconnect the storage device and connect it to your PS3 via the slots under the slot cover or the USB connectors depending on the device you're using.

Once connected, navigate to Settings on the PS3 Home Menu, select [System Update] and then [Update via Storage Media]. Select the connected device and your PS3 will install the update data stored there.

For the system you can go here http://us.playstation.com/psn/index.htm At the bottom right you will see PS3 System Update. Just click on that and follow instructions.

I don't think you can get game updates like this though. Not sure. Maybe someone else can confirm that?

If a game absolutely requires a certain system update, it will usually included it on the disc and force you to install it before you can try to play.


There is not way to get game updates without an internet connection.

exactly. follow those instructions and you should be perfectly fine.
