honestly it depends on what is important to you. Me personally, everything I want/need to watch is available on TWC for me. My neighbor has DirecTV, and he has the exact same channels as I do,and pays more a month then me. The only thing that DirecTV has that I would like is the Sunday Ticket for Football, but I'm a Steelers fan that doesn't live outside what DirecTV considers local market. So even though I only get Cleveland/Youngstown locals, I can't get Steelers games on Sunday Ticket. If I could I would switch just for that. I also enjoy my HD Showcase on Demand channel(1400 in NE Ohio) because I don't have to use DVR space to catch my NCIS shows or the CSI shows as well as Celebrity Apprentice. G4 for game previews and Pawn Stars on the History channel are another great thing to get on that On Demand channel. Not sure where you are at, but get a list of the channels you currently get in HD and take that list and compare it to DirecTV and Dish Network. If they give you more channels that you would like, I say switch. I personally though am happy right now.

DirecTV has an awesome deal right now where you get 50% off the regular monthly price for your subscription package for 12 months with free installation and a free HD receiver and HD DVR upgrade. Their HD DVR is $200 otherwise. The total package for 12 months is most likely going to be cheaper than what you'll get with TWC. When the rates normalize after 12 months, expect to pay more than what you would for cable. I believe the deal lasts until July 31st.
Of course, cable has benefits outside of television: usually you can bundle your phone and internet service through the same carrier, potentially at a discount. I know that you can bundle AT&T phone and internet with DirecTV, but I don't believe there's a discount applied for having all those services. Plus cable doesn't go out in a heavy thunderstorm, etc. I think it mostly depends on what your personal preference is for your entertainment needs. Without question, DirecTV is the superior service (especially if you're a sports fan), but you may have no need for it. I had DirecTV at an old place, had to drop it when I moved, and now intend to pick it up again in a couple months. |

I really depends on exactly what you cable provider brings to the table.
I switched to Direct TV because they offered more HD channels and more regional sports channels and a lower price. In larger cities, cable service is frequently cheaper and more extensive than in rural South Georgia, and cable may be a better bargain. |
