for those of you who have experience with the Panasonic PT-AE4000u, what type of screen is ideal with this projector?
White, Gray, or even Black? I obviously want a bright, punchy image, but I'm used to watching a Pioneer Kuro, so black levels are a MUST! the screen will be 100", and the room will be painted black-dark gray. |

I'd go with a Black Diamond II screen... Check out Geologynut's setup. Same projectot using the BDII screen... kick ass combo!

hearing so many good things about Carada at a fraction of the price, is the performance going to be that much better? (I know the 'Black Diamond' is unique, but is it worth the premium?) Also, in the grand scheme of things, is the panasonic considered a bright projector, hows its contrast compared to others?.... the reason I ask, is once again concerning the screen; is it bright enough to get away with a screen gain less than 1.0? and is its contrast good enough to not require a grey/black screen? thanks. |

I also want to know what screen is the best for this projector and price is a concern for me as well, i'm looking for a 100" motorized screen in the $500-700 range. I'm just not sure to go with white or grey, any suggestion would be great.

Since the screen has a gain of only 0.8, I do all the viewing using the "Normal" lamp mode. If using Eco mode, it loses much of the punch that I can get from the "Normal" lamp mode. By the way, this is a bright projector. Using "Normal" lamp mode with "Cinema 1" picture mode gives me a great picture that I loves it so much. |
