Question Convert PS3 TrueHD/HD MA to analog for pre-pro?

Hi,

Currently, I use my PS3 to play my Blu-ray discs. I'm pretty satisfied with the video part (my TV only does 1080i, but the Elite has tremendous PQ), but I would really like to experience Dolby TrueHD & DTS-HD MA on my system. I'm extremely satisfied with the audio from my Parasound Halo/Sonus Faber/Velodyne 5.1 system, and I'm sure I would be able to hear and appreciate the additional dynamic range/detail inherent in these new blu-ray audio formats.

To that end I'm trying to come up with a way to convert these audio formats to 5.1 to input into my Halo C2's analog inputs. My Denon DVD player is currently hooked up this way for playing my SACD/DVD-A disks, and it sounds great. I would like to do the same thing (if it's possible) for the PS3.

Does anyone have an experience with converters like this? I found one on the web - HDMI LPCM 7.1 5.1 Multi-Channel Audio Decoder With Amplifier, but I can't find any evidence that this works with the PS3, or if it's even worth it. The price seems right compared to buying a new blu-ray player like the Oppo BDP-83, but if it really doesn't work that well, I may be better off saving for the Oppo and replacing my Denon DVD player completely (it's nice that the BDP-83 does SACD/DVD-A).

Any help/opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Michael
