Canada How Do I buy a Blu-ray From Canada if I am from US?

I have bought alot of blu-rays through Amazon.com because I live in the US but there are a couple of movies on blu-ray that are not yet here in the US. I know the regions are the same. I just have to go through Amazon.Ca if I want a title. I am intersted in The Faculty and The Halloween Triple Pack with H20 and the others. Can I pay with American money through there site. How do I calculate CDN $19.99 to US Dollars?

Go through the same checkout process that you use for Amazon.com.

It may ask if you want to Amazon to do the conversion. If it does not, then just pay with your credit card and the bank will do the conversion.

You can also visit XE and type in the amount and convert any currency to get an estimate of how much you'll pay.

If you are more comfortable ordering in US dollars then:

Axel Music

iNet Video

both offer Canadian releases and prices are in US dollars.

If you needed something from stores here or even just wanted to save on shipping or duty from Amazon, I can help or just ask in the trading forums and many will be willing to help you out.

The nice things about ordering from Amazon are...

They have a conversion calculator so you can pay in US dollars if you want and have Amazon do the conversion for you OR you can let your credit card do it. Whichever gives you the best exchange rate.

Also, if you already have an Amazon account in the US... then it's very easy to sign in to Amazon.CA (or other Amazons for that matter) and all your info is already there!

Downside from Amazon.CA is their shipping is a little high if you're only ordering a single movie... but I have to say it is lightning fast. The last movie I ordered came to me via next day DHL air!

The problem with ordering from Amazon.ca as an American is the extortionist shipping charges, which is likely not a true reflection of the cost and more a price control to prevent competition with Amazon.com. For Americans ordering Blu-rays from Canada, it is often cheaper to use http://www.inetvideo.com/. The only problem with them is they do not carry a huge assortment of titles.

I know in my case it was very close to a non-issue.

I wanted the Halloween triple-play Blu ray... It wasn't available except in Canada, so I either had to order from Canada OR from someone in the US who imports.

From Amazon.CA it cost me $10 for the overnight shipping (no real choice for a slower/cheaper method)... but the movie was only $20... for $30 total.

There was a place within the US I could have ordered for $24 plus about $4 shipping... and that would have taken a week or more... and only saved me $2 when all was said and done.

So it kinda depends on what your options are.

I do find it weird, though... that I ordered 2 Blu rays from Amazon.UK and the shipping from there was less than $7, while a single Blu from Canada was $10!

Blame Canada Post! Last week I emailed a Canadian supplier of HDMI cables as they charged $12.47 to ship "one" cable from within Canada to a Canadian destination, and they replied "that's what Canada Post Charges and we are well aware of how much cheaper the USPS is but we can't do anything about our postal rates". Long story short, I ordered the 6 foot HDMI cable from the US and it cost me just over $7.00 delivered which included postage to Canada. Would have cost me $24.00 if I purchased it here in Canada

Canada Post's shipping charges are absolutely ridiculous. If I want to ship something to Alberta from me in Manitoba, it costs more than to ship to anywhere in the USA. It makes it hard to compete with US ebay sellers due to the large ship cost at times.

Canada post alone is probably responsible for a huge majority of small businesses in Canada that can't get anywhere as they can't compete with the US postal service. Too bad we don't have a level playing field up here to allow small business to prosper.

That's the thing... $10 for overnight is great... and in fact, it was kinda like overnight next morning because I ordered in the afternoon and the delivery attempt happened at something like 9am the next day!

The only thing was, I'd have been happy with paying half that for shipping and waiting a week to get it. There just wasn't a way to do that.

I ,also from the U.S., order most my imports from Axelmusic.com their shipping prices are reasonable and the products always arrive quickly so I'd definitely reccommend them if your looking to get an import.
