Default Overzealous moderators

First of all I could care less, it's not like any of this really affects me. There's nothing a moderator can do to a person that would matter in the real world. If someone disagrees with them and gets banned, they can always change their IP address and come right back.

I had a question regarding something about Paypal I didn't know about.

https://forum.blu-ray.com/retail-sho...-question.html

During this thread I was first given a short answer and was wanting clarification (I also found out that gifting money through Paypal is not allowed on here.) and my thread was closed.

I opened another one because my answer was still not answered and the thread should not have been closed without a reason why. After receiving the answer, I stated it was okay to close the thread. I just wanted an answer, didn't need the discussion.

The thread was closed and I was given an infraction for "talking about Paypal gift". I wasn't planning to use Paypal gifting once I got the answer to my question. The trading forum rules say "Please use PayPal only if the trade has a monetary component. Do NOT use gift cards under any circumstance, including PayPal gifts." but do not give a reason why. There is not a rule saying "We cannot talk about Paypal gift."

I have nothing against Jwbbud but I did send him a message saying I did nothing wrong as I was wanting clarification on Paypal gift/and the rules and since this was a misunderstanding on the moderator's part, the infraction should be removed.

Again, I could care less, I just hope this doesn't happen to someone else.

Yeah I got a PM from Jwbbud... totally sounded like he/she got out of bed on the wrong side. Have no idea how he/she took offence to what I posted. Meet me on the banned list Meeks!

Meeklo, well I dont believe this believe this belongs on an open board, If you have a problem with one of us please confer to another moderator.
You started a Thread and posted(I have quoted you)

This is not through eBay....I'm selling a bunch of my blus on here and I'm wanting it so people can send me money and Paypal not charge the fee for it.
Another member answered you and said, Its Paypal Gift and its not allowed.
This is true, The thread was closed and we moved on.

Then you felt the need to repost it. You even stated in your response to the infraction that it should be in the rules, Well its been there since Jan
Quote:
May you should add that into the trading threads rules post instead of "punishing" those who are just asking what it's about. I never said I was going to use Paypal gift.
(quote from your response to the infraction)

So clearly you knew what you were planning to do, just got caught before it was implemented.

KaiGusto- Yours was a simple PM request, I am sorry if you get or got offended because I communicated with you via PM, I wont do it again.

I knew what I wanted, I wanted to not get charged Paypal fees....I didn't know it wasn't allowed on here. All I wanted to know was why it wasn't allowed....are there safety concerns, liability issues, etc...

Once I got the answer and I saw it wasn't allowed is when I looked at the trading rules again and it said not to use Paypal gift but didn't say why. I said maybe we should put the reason why it's not allowed on here into the rules for clairification.

And again....there's not a rule saying we cannot talk about Paypal gift on here....just that we cannot use it.

I posted this on an open forum because there wasn't any response in the original thread as to why it was closed and there was no response from the reply to the infraction.

I've been a moderator on other boards before. All I ask is to read over all info and talk to the user before giving the user any infractions, or even suspending or banning. (Much like you did when I foolishly posted a way to cheat stores out of blus.)

So you have received pms before about stealing from retailers... Be glad that was just a pm, as infractions are usually handed out for that as well. I would'nt want to be stolen from so I expect the same in return.

Anyways when a thread is closed, Its never a good idea to re-open a new one to fulfill ones agenda. paypal gift is not allowed in the trading forum, thats why the original thread was closed.

Have a nice night

It's pretty obvious why Paypal gift is not allowed, you can't file a complaint if money is gifted. Paypal gift and AMZ GC are used by scammers.

I didn't want to start another thread, but I have a situation that I would like to discuss with an ADMIN (not Moderator) here. Can somebody let me know the screenname(s) of the ADMIN team? Thanks in advance!

Guys, if you have a problem with a moderator, either contact the specific moderator you have your problem with or, contact an administrator. The open forum is no place to be discussing your dispute with a mod.

I agree. Lets keep it civilized. Dont bad talk a Mod just because you had a bad experience with them. They have their own rules to go by and all they can do is enforce them. Talk to the Mod in private.

The problem is basically that this is a very busy forum and the trading and deals sections are quite chaotic. Because of this all moderators are on an efficiency/time-constraint, where they want to be as efficient as possible. Because of this and other things, there's an obvious disparity between what is clear to a moderator and to a member.

Anyway, take this in private and keep in mind that moderators are just trying to be nice and are doing their best in trying to do what's best for the community as a whole.
