With 2011 coming to a close, I was wondering what everyone's plans are for next year, related to Blu-ray, of course.
For me it'd be to catch up with all the titles from my collection I haven't watched yet, buy less, and watch every movie within a week from purchase ![]() |

Catch up over the Holidays on my unwatched titles. I've slowed down gthe purchases but can't seem to resist sales, especially after checking into this site multiple times a day
![]() Now I have another series to watch; just bought S1 & S2 of Breaking Bad after a sale on Amazon (which I found out from checking this site). |

I don't collect movies nearly as fast, but my existing shelf is pretty much done for (I have a small amount of DVDs, and a few books as well). Instead of buying one, I thought of designing it, and having it built someplace like Home Depot. That way, I could get the most room with smaller shelf heights, and have it made of something that's not too heavy for moving.

My resolution this year for blu-rays would be to not buy as much and to be more selective with what I do buy. That way it will prevent me from having to sell stuff I really dont watch as often thus saving a bit of money. I can do it...

I have two resolutions for 2012:
a. I want to crack 150 SKU's. I'm at 110 right now, figure after Christmas around 120. An extra 30 doesn't sound so bad for most of you I'm sure, but I really scaled back my purchases towards the end of the year (I've only been Blu for a year, but the majority of my collection was built in the first 2-3 months after I initially upgraded). b. I want to topple my unwatched pile... sitting at 57 right now. It was higher though, around 70 as of a week or so ago. I've been making more of an effort to ask, "What do I have?" rather than what I had been asking, "What do I want next?" |

Hold back on early 2-D purchases of any possible 3-D titles unless I absolutely have no choice.
![]() (For one thing, I've already held back on buying the SW Prequel Trilogy, just to see whether that Episode I conversion comes out on disk next spring.) |

I've been thinking about this for awhile now and I wanted to start with these rules this month (december) but changed my mind while looking at the release schedule for the month, haha. I am trying to get myself in the position to start looking at purchasing a home sometime in 2013 with my fiance so I have come up with three new rules for myself.
1) No more Blind Buys just for the sake of wanting to watch the movie, only blind buys for proven directors/cast/franchises. 2) Since I've finally subscribed to Blockbuster.com I am going to limit myself to 2 new releases a month and no more than $40 in catalog purchases per month (This includes DVDs and note I didn't put a monitary limit on the new releases). 3) Going through my collection recently I've noticed that there are a handful of titles that I honestly hate or at least know I will never watch again. I've never sold them because they arn't worth what they are paying for, but this year I want to list them on Amazon, just to get rid of them (maybe take the straglers to a pawn shop or salvation army). |
