Default 40GB PS3 in UK

Just received Emails announcing 40GB PS3 in the UK.
Price will be £299.99 and it will have only 2 USB ports,
as far as I know this is the main difference.

It;s a good alternative to have a blu-ray player in that second room.

yeah uk has the original 60gb model at £350 and the new one at £300

in context, the new price is a direct comparison to the elite, so smaller hd but otherwise the elite should be owned.

Even better, one retailer in the UK (ShopTo.net) is selling the 40GB unit for £279 with free delivery.

From GAME website they have the new 40GB PS3, they show the difference between the 40 and 60 GB as...

This PlayStation 3 model does NOT feature:

Backwards Compatibility with PS2 Games
Memory Stick Card Readers
SACD Playback
Ethernet Cable
4 USB Ports, this model features 2.

I don't see why ANYONE would want to buy the 40 GB model. For only 50 pounds more, you get another 20 gigs, memory stick ports, two extra USB ports, backwards compatability, and two first party games? You'd have to be an idiot not to just shell out the extra 50. Sony probably should have made the 40 GB even cheaper just so the new model would make sense.

I don't think its a big deal. For the price, that sounds like an excellent Blu-ray movie player if you ask me.
