This is a close one for me, since I have fond memories of these films as a teenager.

Do love the cast and story for M2M, but it always was a little too slow and sappy for its own good. I rewatched it more than RP back in my high school years, but haven't revisited it since--now that I have the German BD, I'm curious to see if it holds up for me.

Red Planet slowly grew on me over the years. Always did enjoy the scenes with the killer robot AMEE. Didn't think much of the rest of it until lately when I rewatched it on BD and found myself appreciating the cinematography and script more. Between the two movies, I seem to enjoy RP just a tad more, probably since it focuses so much more on the survival, whereas M2M is more about the mystery.

Red Planet also has one of my all-time favorite soundtracks. Had the CD since 2000 or so, and I still think Emma Shapplin's work is utterly beautiful.

Mission To Mars is a pretentious misfire---

Red Planet is just an "okay" sci-fi flick but the better choice...

Mission to Mars, because it's De Palma in space and there are some really wonderful sequences and the score is terrific. The zero G stuff is so awesome. Yeah, it's kind of a dumbed down 2001, but whatever, De Palma makes it cinematic as hell and it's a lot of fun.

Red Planet, I own, but honestly don't remember much about it. I need to give it a spin.
