I had always hoped to upgrade to a Panny 3000 after a few years of owning my first projector a MITS 1600. So I've waited patiently hoping to see them drop down to maybe the $1200 range. Now I see the big news of the 4000 and it's only $1999. But still, I'd be happy with a 3000 for $1000.
Only problem - where are they!!?? It seems like places carrying the 3000 are still asking $2000+ for them. I've only seen one sold on ebay in the past 60 days for $1500. I'm still happy with the way my 1600 looks so I could wait until a 4000 gets cheaper still but my plan all along was the buy the 3000 for $1200 or less. Is that not going to happen? Thanks for any info. I don't live and breath Home Theater so I don't always have the best info like a lot of you guys do. You have always been a huge help in buying and setting up HT! |

Getting items on closeout pricing is hit and miss due to simple supply and demand. As the item goes down in price, the demand goes up.
If you are currently happy with your unit, then continue to use it. You could sell it, but the depreciation curve on CE products is pretty steep. At this point I would hold off and watch sales and rebates for the AE4000 if you are locked onto a Panasonic 1080p projector. |

It seems like no one has the 3000 - or - they have it but it is still $2200 when I look on google.
Surprising there are not more second hand.. you would figure a lot of people might upgrade from the 3000 to 4000.. even though the 3000 is so solid they may not see the need, it seems people who buy a $3000 projector will probably be likely to upgrade to a better projector for $2000. Maybe I'll just end up with a 4000. I probably won't buy anything until around Christmas time. |
