I, too, don't really care for LOTR, never really got into the first one, found it boring

Thanks for an excellent perspective on this. These Best Buy "exclusives" are sometimes anything but, but for those who have an extra $15 to burn and do happen to need a spare letter opener I say knock yourselves out!

I usually buy special editions but not a huge lotr fan so no sale for me. Why bother when you know the extra special extended version is coming?

I, personally, would rather get the steelbook when you pre-order at Best Buy. It looks really nice, and will be the first steelbook I've ever bought.

I can't speak for jlynn33, but personally, if I know that a better release is coming out eventually, I can wait. So what if it's two years. I have access to the standard DVDs of the extended cuts that I can watch whenever I want; that can tide me over.
