Default Death at a Funeral Review Thread (Use Spoiler Tags)

Quote:
Death at a Funeral is a 2010 American black comedy, and a remake of the 2007 British film of the same name. The less than three-year gap between the original and this film makes this one of the fastest remakes of an English language film in modern Hollywood history. Unlike the 2007 film, this features a largely African-American ensemble cast, with Peter Dinklage reprising his role from the original. Just like the British film, the film is rated R in the U.S. for strong language, graphic nudity, and drug use.
Plot
Quote:
When Aaron and Ryan's father passes away, their family and friends join them at their father's funeral resulting in a series of comedic and unfortunate events. They soon find out that their father was living a double life as a gay man. The plot thickens when the father's gay partner shows up.

Poll is added but please dont choose an option unless u have seen the film. Also make sure u use spoilers if giving away plot details or sumthin specific regarding the film. Got Em!!

I agree with u about the Honeymooners as it is a huge classic and it shouldnt have been touched, but this movie doesnt compare to sumthin like that! I dont even know many people who has even seen the original. Also this remake has a wonderful cast and I think it is gonna be big barrel's of laughs! Time will tell. Got Em!!

Thread cleaned, keep on topic please....everyone is welcome to their own opinions of the film whether they've seen it or not, but there is nothing constructive about going into a movie's thread solely to call it "junk" or "crap" or whatever insult you prefer without any additional explanation or discussion....per forum rules, that is threadcrapping.

I've seen the original and it's very funny. From what i've seen of the trailers for this film, there isn't any new material worth spending more money on as all the jokes are there in the first.

The cast of the first film is excellent: Matthew Macfadyen(Pride and Prejudice), Keely Hawes(The Bank Job), Daisy Donovan(Millions), Ewen Bremner(Trainspotting, Snatch), Alan Tudyk(Serenity), Rupert Graves(V for Vendetta), and Kris Marshall(Love Actually).

I dont doubt the first one is funny, but being that a lot of people have not seen the original, plus this is an american film so some can probably relate more to this version. I have not seen the original so the jokes etc...will be new to me and others. Got Em!!

I rented the original back in '08 before I had left for college and I thought it was pretty funny. At least they got Peter Dinklage back for the remake.

I saw this last night (and I haven't seen the original). I thought it was quite funny, but probably more like a rental. James Marsden steals the show, he's hilarious in it.

Review from Ebert! Got Em!!

Quote:
Roger Ebert gave the film 3.5 out of 4 stars saying "I don't laugh at movies where the characters are deliberately being vulgar. But when they desperately don't want to be, now that's funny.
