I just watched the trailer for this and it looks pretty good. Plus, I'm a big fan of Dakota Fanning. I'm definitely getting this.
It is odd that the back cover says 128 minutes when other sites like IMDB and Letterboxd have it listed at 148 minutes.

The cut I saw in the theaters last weekend was still the 148 minute cut I saw at TIFF. From what I remember, it was unchanged.

I think the image scanned here is just a misprint. It better not be 20 minutes shorter, in any case.

Also, the plot summary on the back of the box is only half correct.

I got my copy today.

On the actual artwork in the Blu-ray case, it does have the run time listed at 128 minutes, but I can confirm that it is indeed 148 minutes as I just checked. Definitely a misprint.

Received the Blu Ray today and can confirm that it is Region A locked.

There will be a Region B Australian release in July:

http://www.ezydvd.com.au/blu-ray/bri...016/dp/6181251

States 128 minutes running time but I suspect they are just copying from all the other errors in relation to the running time of this film.

This is a really good movie! I'm surprised it didn't get more attention. I can definitely see it becoming a cult classic. One of the darkest and most original westerns I've seen. It reminds me of a Cormac McCarthy novel.

I agree! Just watched this via Netflix BD rental and I'm thinking about picking it up. I like the original story, the cast was quite good and the production value was used well with the nice sets/shooting locations. The European filming locations easily passed for 1800's America.
While I'm a huge fan of Guy Pierce, and I think he did a great job in this film, I can't help but think how better Mads Mikkelsen would've been in role of the Reverend.
Nonetheless, very highly recommend this release!

This is one of the better western films that I've seen in awhile! I ended up buying the DVD from redbox for $4 after watching the trailers. Story is great, with lots of violence and good performances from G. Pearce, D. Fanning and E. Jones. Chapter 5: Retribution was filmed really good, particularly the snow scenes.
It looks like Guy Pearce was a
[Show spoiler]deranged pedophile.

I give this movie a 4 out of 5. This is something I will be watching again.

I wouldn’t call it creepy. The acting was great. But my God I’ve been watching mostly “horror” lately (I would classify this as a gritty western drama). This is one of, if not the bleakest film I’ve seen.

If you’re depressed don’t watch this.
