United Kingdom Like Father, Like Son (Hirokazu Kore-eda)

Like Father, Like Son Blu-ray

NEWS/TRAILER
https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=12400

Quote:
British distributors Arrow Films have revealed that they are planning to bring to Blu-ray acclaimed Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-eda's latest film, Like Father, Like Son (2013), starring Masaharu Fukuyama, Machiko Ono, and Yôko Maki. The preliminary release date set by the distributors is February 24th.

Earlier this year, Like Father, Like Son won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival.

Synopsis: From Hirokazu Kore-eda, the globally acclaimed director of Nobody Knows, Still Walking, and I Wish. Hard-working businessman Ryota (Fukuyama) has found success both in his professional life and at home where he has a loving wife and a six-year-old son. When he receives the devastating news that the child he thought was his was actually accidentally switched with another baby when he was born, Ryoto has an almost impossible decision to make. As he begins to question his role as a father he must choose between the boy he has raised and the son he has never known.

I want to see this. So it'll be ordered closer to release.

Since it isn't playing anywhere near me. :sigh:

I'm also looking forward to this one.

It's playing at my local cinema next month, but I have too many other screenings to see around then so I'll have to miss it until the Blu is available.

Saw the director's other film, the one where the family get together and the younger generation are uncomfortable. It wasn't bad. A bit too studied and cerebral for my tastes, but not bad at all. I will check this out sometime.

Too bad this got pushed back, though it may force me to see it theatrically now, since it will hit theaters in Canada before this release.

Amazon and MovieMail are cheapest, but seems it's been pushed back so might be cheaper towards release date elsewhere.

i usually wait for long after release these days, with prices having dropped off considerably over the years, and with a backlog to watch - this is one of only a few i'd like to see upon release, if at a decent initial price, but considering 'i wish' was down to half price within 6 months or so ...

i do prefer to wait for such releases to drop in price as well. since they do really drop only a few months later around 20-50% in sales.
or are avaible for 5-6GBP at zoverstcoks..

arrow and AE releases are ofter avaible in amazon or zavvi sales as well

but since i wanna keep supporting korean UK releases i will keep my preorder (has been pushed back to the end of april anyway)

Yeah I got I Wish for a fiver...not watched it yet but glad I got it (from what I've heard it's great). This being another Arrow release it's likely it will, like you said, drop in price after 4-6 months and maybe even halve in price after that. I'm gonna wait it out for this one, but maybe if I watch I Wish soon I will change my mind.

i still have to watch the the criterion of still walking, the arrow releases of poetry , departures and i wish

but i liked movies like secret sunshine , oasis etc.. so this one should be something for me as well.

The Judge Reinhold one was called Vice Versa. It also starred Fred Savage (with whom he switched bodies with). The other Like Father, Like Son starred Dudley Moore and Kirk Cameron (with Sean Astin as the best friend).

Sorry for the detour. Back on track now.

It's possible that the release date was delayed to wait for the special features of the Japanese disc. The Japanese disc is coming out the same week in April as the UK disc, so hopefully the extras will be ported over.

more likely to be an issue to do with reverse importation - it's less aggressively delayed than previous films set for both domestic and international release in quick succession, in that there's no additional delay at this time. extras rarely ported over in a way that's complete, as nobody else has so much cause to be interested in the detail in the manner j audience seem to be taken to be by companies there.
