The producers of The Tudors and Camelot are going back into the past again, and this time they're bringing us the story of Vikings. That's the working title for a new TV project from Michael Hirst and Morgan O'Sullivan, reports Deadline.
MGM is producing Vikings, which is not yet based at a specific network. Deadline says a pay cable channel is the most likely home for it, which shouldn't be a surprise if you've seen the previous series from Hirst (who created The Tudors and is the co-creator of Camelot).
Deadline describes the series as chronicling, "the Vikings' exploits as warriors, explorers, builders, merchants, pirates and mercenaries through what is known as the Viking Age of Scandinavian, British and Irish history from the late-8th to the mid-11th century." The main character will be Ragnar Lodbrok, "one of the most popular Viking heroes, a great commander who briefly ruled Denmark and Sweden and was linked to two shieldmaidens and a queen."
Sounds really cool and already has a good start with the Tudors and Camelot producers.
