Default The Pioneer Elite BDP-09FD Review Thread

All,

Has anyone received their BDP-09FD yet? If so please post your impressions.

Mine is supposed to arrive sometime next week. It will be mated up with a Pioneer Elite Kuro Pro-141FD.

Hope to read your impressions soon.

Sincerely,
Tim

Will you be connecting to a receiver that decodes ALL or are you relying on the 09 to decode for you? Also, will you be connected via HDMI or multichannel analog out?

very happy with mine!
PQ and sound are second to none, have no trouble obtaining and installing firmware updates, and it has played all BD i've tried to play.
I recommend it to all looking for a top drawer stand alone.
Have a great day
Tim

Tim, how does it compare to your 05? Are response/load times the same or appreciably faster than the 05?

I have put most of my $$$ and energy into my 2.1 channel Class-A all-balanced system. I am starting to upgrade my 7.1 channel system and haven't upgraded the receiver yet. My Denon AVR-5803 does not have HDMI support, but it does have 7.1 multi-channel analog channel inputs. I think I will be giving them a try and rely on the Blue-Ray 09FD for decoding audio until I decide on a new receiver/processor/separates. I have no clue yet what to replace the receiver with (maybe Jeffrey Rowland 201 or 501 mono-block amps =).

I plan on running the video from the 09FD straight into the Pioneer 141FD. I have a Pioneer DV-59AVi currently driving the 141FD directly via HDMI and it does a pretty decent job on DVDs. The picture quality really popped when I added the Equi=Tech 2QR balance power unit to the system.

I would appreciate any and all recommendations.

Sincerely,
Tim
