Default Speaker weight for top of TV.

I currently have my center speaker (27lbs) mounted with this shelf on top of my Sony KF-50WE610 TV. I haven't had any issues at all with the current set up. But I'm looking at a new center that weighs 39lbs & was wondering if it might be too much weight for the center span of the TV. What do you think?

your link doesn't work, check it. i use to have my csi5 center channel sitting on top of my RPTV. it had a little kick stand arm in the back of it so that the leg could act as a leveler for the speaker as well as balance it weight wise it wouldn't be in danger of falling. what kind of speaker do you have (is it made like mine) and what brand/model tv do you have and does it have the obvious body to support the extra poundage?

My speaker is very similar to yours & yes the TV has a prety good sloped body to accomidate the leveling legs. Here's the link again.

I'll gather you have a RPTV? this shelf will be fine for your use and i don't think your tv will be harmed by the weight either; i don't think that the 12 additional pounds is going to collaps the TV! mine weighs in at 29lbs

my center channel actually has a bracket built onto the back of it for a pole with a rubber bottom on it goes up into and you slide it up or down to adjust the length then tighten it and it does the balancing. it's located in the back center of the speaker. here is a link to the old page that shows the adjustable bar http://www.polkaudio.com/homeaudio/p...s/recent/csi5/ i have moved my speaker to the lower level of my tv stand now but it worked fine when i had it up on top for about a year or so.

i say go for it.

Yes, it's a RPTV...not an LCD, I posted in the wrong section. I pretty much feel the same way that an additional 12 lbs wouldn't make that big of a deal. Sounds like I'm good to go then!!! Thanks,
