Exclamation Who has done firmware updates on your blu-ray players...

I bring this up because a lot of people don't realize that what they need is an update, not a new player, not a different player, and not to return it to the store. Sure, you may have to wait in some cases for your problem to be resolved, but isn't that better than living without blu-ray or (gasp) living WITH HD-DVD.

I have done firmware updates for pc's, cd-roms, and even my DVD burner. In general, even if you don't notice a difference, they are good things to do to improve stability and performance.

I'm interested in hearing about the firmware updates you have done for your blu-ray players. Did they fix your problem, did performance improve, etc.

Well, I've updated my Philips BDP9000's firmware twice, and while it did improve playback with certain discs (some movies just wouldn't play without them), it also screwed up my menu system and resume movie functions a bit.
Now, every time I stop and resume a movie, the screen will go blank for a second, followed by a momentary pause, then the movie will finally start.

That gets annoying after a little while, but I don't feel like it's the end of the world though.

I have updated my Sony BDP-S1 three times now. Every time I have updated the player I have noticed Improvements in how the player works.

I don't get lock ups like I did at first. The initial boot time is drasticly faster.

I actually bought a DVD burner for my PC so it could update my player.
